The thing is; even though this is farce and fun to us, that's EXACTLY HOW THEY THINK. I've been pointedly instructed that I must do exactly that, bear my testimony as if I knew it was true, then it would soon become true to me. When I inquired how that differed from "talking myself into believing it," I was told that such thoughts were just "the adversary" speaking to me.

It's a cult.

Oh that is so beautiful! I had just failed to realizes my lack of testimony is in fact a testimony. Almost it convinces me to return to Mormonism.

The great Mormon Testimony Commandment:

* "THOU SHALT BEAR FALSE WITNESS!" *

You see, the end justifies the means, because Lying will surely make the gospel true; It only makes sense. This advice comes directly from men who astonishingly say that they actually talk directly to God themselves - face to face - all the time. How could they be wrong? They wouldn't lie themselves, right?*

* [On the other hand, when someone instructs you to lie to others, isn't that reason enough to strongly suspect that they are probably lying to you as well?]

President Paternoster might also have quoted that great line from the film "Plan 10 From Outer Space," which had a Mormon theme:

"Just because he made it up, doesn't mean it isn't true!"
