When all else fails to persuade you to come to their opinion, warn of Judgment Day.
An individual emailed me recently to complain, and we had the following pleasant exchange:
"Your [opinion] on [such-and-such a date] contained a serious error. . . .
"You and your drawings should be held to a higher standard of truthfulness. This latest drawing's distortion of the truth is deplorable."
My reply:
"My truth is your error. . . ."

The miffed correspondent wrote back:
"Not even particularly clever. You are obviously delusional and should seek immediate professional help. Many, however will see through your shallow deceit. Someday you'll be given an opportunity to give an account of this."
My response:
"Well, it was obviously impactful enough on your personal life that you wrote in to comment.
"That’s the idea . . . . Pull you into the rumble.
"In the meantime, I did account for it by signing my name to it (as a reminder to you that it is my job to draw my opinion and not yours).
"Thanks for writing--and check that blood pressure. :) "
