I think we need to invent our own cocktail...one that we can all go home and celebrationally imbibe when we get word that someone else has "left the Mormon building."

Then we can have a collective "huzzah" when we hear good news.

Suggestions? Extra points for clever names...

Inspired by the Martina McBride song, as an anthem to freedom from abuse.

Add
1.5 oz vodka
1 oz peach schnapps
juice of 1/2 lime
to a shaker of ice.

Shake until chilled, strain into a martini glass.
Drizzle blue curacao down the side of the glass, it will pool at the bottom, creating a blue layer below the clear layer.

Top off with club soda. Enjoy, repeat.

"Let freedom ring, let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today
Is a day of reckoning
Let the weak be strong, let right be wrong
Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay
Its independence day."

I'm making an Independence Day tonight, in honor of Reprobate.

I have also wondered if a Polygamy Porter by Wasatch in Utah is a good choice. Except I'm not big on porters.

Tactical Nuclear Penguin beer is pretty fun to say, but it's 64 proof and some of us have to get up and go to work in the morning. And it's sort of hard to find.

Still pondering.

After all, it's what we apostates are supposed to be, isn't it? Arrogant, rather alcoholic and bitter? Plus, the name is just fun...

Arrogant Bastard is good. It's what they say we are, and what we say they are.

I'm going to buy some after work. I'll raise a pint tonight to all the brave and noble souls who declared their independence this week.

Cheers!

the first sip of it is going to be like being bitch-slapped by hops.

Well, the idea was a cocktail, but I agree there are any number of beers that could equally fit the occasion. Or any number of wines. Depends on your taste in adult beverage, no one is judging here. :)

I've thought of some other names, but haven't put together the recipes yet, I need some help on that front.

A Fanny Alger (you drink this when your hiding it from your TBM spouse)

Wife No. 19 (maybe a remake of a long island ice tea)

The First Presidency (with triple sec and bitters?)

The Endowment (handshakes all around)

And perhaps some lines Martina's song needs to be modified...

"Let freedom ring, let the fat lady sing
Let the whole world know that today
Is a day of reckoning
Let the weak be strong, let right be wrong
Rough Stone Rolling Away, let the guilty pay
Its independence day."

Look up cocktails called Delicious Escape, The Last Word, and F$%& You.

Until I went looking, I had no idea these existed, but they seem to fit what you're looking for...

There's a fruity drink called "Mormons Gone Wild" but googling brings up no recipes. Maybe Bing will help.
