I always am being complimented or have talks prefaced and peppered with statements like, "You're smart," "I know this seems...," or "I got a feeling"? These statements are usually followed by some implausible, outlandish and foolish idea, choice, or event.

I usually let that sh!t slide if I can't use black and white facts to shoot down whatever proceeds such drivel. But, when I hear statements like that at the beginning of a talk, I think, "Oh boy! What's he/she going to tell me?"

And when they're backed into a corner, they throw a hail mary, killing the conversation with, "We/I prayed about it..."
