The "Devil's" church (let's use the Catholic Church as an example) -
Food banks for all. Homeless shelters for all. Hospitals that serve all. Children and battered women resources. Mother Theresa. etc.
Christ's true church -
Food for its members if they pay tithing. Sometimes. Your homeless because you didn't pay tithing. A multi-billion dollar mall.
Hmmm. I'm no fan of the Catholic Church but by comparisons it looks like the Devil is more Christlike than Christ's own church. Unless the great and abominable church is the Morg and they're all being fooled!
and while I can see the Mormon point about "vain repetitions," there was an almost Zen-like mindlessness at hearing the prayers repeated over and over. It was very soothing. Our friend's death had been sudden and unexpected, and we were hurting. This Rosary turned out to be one of the nicest memorial-type things I have ever attended.
Beyond that, the service was warm and supportive to the family, felt very inclusive, and it was ABOUT THE DECEASED, not a bunch of hot air about doctrine.
It beat any Mormon funeral I've ever been to, hands-down.
