Clearer, Joe’s fraud, to me, clearer to me!
E'en though it is was a cult that had raised me,
Still all my song shall be,
Clearer, Joe’s fraud, to me,
Clearer, Joe's fraud, to me, clearer to me!

Joe, the philanderer, he came around,
His hands all over me, “Shhh! Don’t make a sound”;
Yes, in his dreams I’d be
His in polygamy,
Clearer, Joe’s fraud to me, clearer to me!

There let the words appear, stone in Joe’s hat,
All that he said to me, all so much crap!
Moroni to foolish me:
“Gold plates, you cannot see”;
Clearer, Joe’s fraud to me, clearer to me!

Then, with my waking eyes, brightly I gazed,
Out of my Mo beliefs, questions I raised;
“Joe, answer this for me:
"Why fake Mo’s history?”
Clearer, Joe’s fraud to me, clearer to me!

No Mo myth, on lofty wing, I leave The Lie,
Moonmen and malls forgot, I say good-bye!
As for Joe’s “prophesy,”
What a scam; I finally see,
All clear, Joe’s fraud to me, it's all clear to me!

This is a keeper!
Be sure to include this in the book you write someday.

Here's one I've been working on - it goes to the tune of "If you don't walk like most people do..."

If you don't believe like most Mormons do
Most Mormons mock and deride you
And I will, I will
Conformity makes normalcy
I'll hate you 'til you're just like me.

I think that a lot of history reporting is faked. Ever read
a history of WW2, as published in a typical high school
textbook in Japan?

But Joe needed to fake stuff in order to gain a large
number of converts in a short time. Between 1830 and 1842
a huge number of Americans were expecting a speedy onset
of the Christian Millennium -- in order to take advantage
of those expectations, and distinguish himself from the
other preachers, Joe needed a fake past.

Enoch's city? Fake. Enoch's city falling to earth in
the middle of America? Fake prediction.

But that fake history (Book of Moses + Book of Mormon)
made Joe special -- made him, ostensibly, the most
important person on the planet.

And, in the old Hotel Utah, the admiring dupes gathered
round his idol, er... statue, believe that fake history.
It makes them special as well -- the chosen people.

Representing poetics. Isn't it amusing how metrical writing and classic rhyme schemes lend themselves to humor in modern times? Metrical writing used to be very serious, but now it's closely linked to satire. Free verse is considered serious nowadays.

No one can deny the lilting joy of iambic verse, in my opinion. Write on!
