I doubt your informal poll will result in anything less than 100%. Not because everyone here is for marriage equality, but that RFM isn't kind to bigots.

Aye. Who who disagrees is going to come here and say so?

If there was some sort of anonymous polling system here, you might get more accurate results. Maybe. There's still self-selection to consider.

True but still interesting. 20 years ago plenty of people would be willing to state their opposition I think. Even racists have learned to keep quieter. That seems to be some form of progress.

It seems that almost everyone does, but I think that also goes hand in hand with rejecting the Bible as the literal word of God.

But I know two here by name that do NOT. One of them rarely posts, and the other may actually have the balls to post in this thread...

I do but that's probably not a shocker.

I did hear this morning on NPR that several large businesses were quoted in a brief submitted to the United States Supreme Court as saying that DOMA should be struck down citing that primarily it's bad for business. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I was raised in Whitbread Utah to be a total morgbot but it felt wrong. Even in high school I wasn't comfortable with the open hostility towards the two known gay kids (1981 timeframe). One day my best friend called out a pejorative then ducked behind a corner to hide. I looked at him with disgust on my face and said: "that isn't cool".

As empathetic as I was, I still let the official party line be my guide and dutifully considered homosexuality to be a deviant, perverted choice. Bigotry against gay people was one of the first and best thing I tossed when I lost my testimony.

Yes, yes, yes. Marriage equality will probably become the law in my state (IL) in a few weeks and I'm very excited.

Define marriage equality. Between any consenting individuals? Or just the LGBT versions of equal for them but not all other minority groups. I'm in favor of equal for all...if not for all, then your just moving the line in the sand as to whose morality you are willing to accept at the time. That I'm NOT in favor of.

Your not in favor of moving the line in the right direction? It's all or nothing for you, or am I reading that right? Also I wonder what you mean by consenting individuals. When you say individuals are you referring to adults or are you including children? Consenting, do you mean that the brainwashed consent of a child raised to believe that they are only worth anything if they marry their grandfather's best friend who already has three spouses? Or do you mean informed consent?

I actually said that being gay was a sin.

But so much stuff I'm not offended by was classified as a sin that what's one more added to the list? Besides I thought everyone had done most of those sexual sins. I assumed you couldn't swing a cat at a missionary farewell without hitting a fornicator, masturbator, oral sex participant or gay .

But I have been stupid on many occasions. For example: Someone said they were going to an LGBT conference. Everyone else seemed to know what they were talking so I nodded, guessing what it meant. I then queried, "So what is the Latest Greatest Biggest Thing?" Everyone laughed and thought I was cool for a Mormon. I was still clueless, had to go home and google.

What is marriage but a promise of love and loyalty?
What is marriage but the formalization of union?
Is marriage good? Sure, for those who pursue it from their hearts.
Of course I support equality in marriage!

I do! And I'm hoping for the right to say "I do" to my fiance later this year. Just waiting for the IL House of Representatives to pass SB10. :)

Thank you to everyone who supports marriage equality!
