I just told my 15 year-old TBM daughter that if she's curious about the endowment she can look it up on YouTube. I told her I would not help her find it. Her mom and siblings have all left TSCC. She's the last hold out. I thought maybe if she saw what it was all about she would have no more curiousity and then join us. Was this a bad idea? (I also think my TBM inlaws overheard me telling her.)

No, a very good idea!

Part of what keeps so many docile and engaged is the secret (not sacred!) nature of the temple ceremonies, in my opinion.

Allowing her to see for herself exactly what is going on before she is to mind-fucked to say "No!" is very good medicine indeed. Who cares what your TBM in-laws heard. Fuck 'em.

My sister and I told her teen daughter all about the temple, she was shocked and thought it was hilarious. We all had a good laugh. I think it is so ridiculous when taken in away from the fear and stress, that most people would find it shocking and repulsive.

I told my teenagers about the temple ceremony, the covenants, handshakes, movie overview etc. Then they wanted to see my temple robes so I modeled for them. It was good for all of us because it seemed weird and culty and funny to them - really exposed how ridiculous and non-spiritual it all is. And it was good for me to break that spell of secrecy and "covenants" and realize that nothing bad would happen to me if I exposed the so-called sacred temple info to my children.

While you are at it, you should explain to her that Joseph Smith married girls her own age.

Actually, I told her this and one of her LDS friends (African-American girl) told her that this was necessary. What a load of crap!
