Today in Sacrament meeting there was an announcement read regarding the new editions of the scriptures - they have been updated to include "some historical corrections" and some "grammatical and punctuation corrections"

Just in case you were confused...

Now let me get this straight .....

God dictated the BoM character by character to Joe.
It's the most correct book of all time.
How could it need "historical corrections" or other corrections ?

I remember reading that the "characters" that appeared in Joseph's hat would not disappear until the scribe had repeated them verbatim. Then, and only then, would new text be displayed.

What a tangled web we weave...

Well, my TBM friends have put a spin on that: BoM is the most correct in "doctrine."

See, isn't it wonderful that we've master that art?

My response: Then why don't we/you/they follow the most correct doctrine?

Jesus H. Fucking Christ. The Book of Mormon is supposed to be the most "correct book" on the face of the Earth.

Duh. Guess not.

Isn't this 'mostly' about chapter summaries/ super-scripts?

Nothing New here folks, they've tampered with them before, they have No Fear of losing members, Because they don't care about those who question them.period.

Actually the two most significant changes are:

1. The introduction to OD2 has been changed to state that the ban was based on race and that there is no documentary or scriptural basis for the ban being introduced. It also acknowledges that Joseph Smith ordained a few black individuals to the Priesthood.

This, to all intents and purposes, is an admission that the Church had been led astray for decades and had racists as leaders.

2. The introduction to the POGP has been changed with reference to the Book of Abraham. The change distances the BofA from the papyrus by claiming it is a book 'inspired' by the papyrus rather than a direct translation. (They have left the actual intro to the BofA intact).
