the Catholic church, yet again, would rather relinquish the long, traditional, European hold on papacy and elect a conservative cardinal from South America than choose the Cardinal of Milan, who is actually a reformer.


The Catholic church, by electing an ultra-conservative pope, is almost declaring that they would love to be completely irrelevant and fade into history.

There are very few liberal cardinals left. The cardinal of Milan is conservative as well.

Well, the Cardinal of Milan is at least a liberal...compared with the other contenders.

From what I read yesterday, Francis is from the anti-Benedict faction. Evidently, the previous pope wasn't all that popular, which might be another reason he took early retirement.

Appointed a lot of cardinals who were archaic- I mean conservative- just like him, so there would NOT be any changes! NO rights for gays, or wimmins. No birth control or even anything that might have a side effect of birth control.He knew what he was doing all right. Havin his cake and eating it too.

Once again I'm glad dogs got no religion.

No the Cardinal of Milan is more conservative theologically than the guy they did choose, he is just more critical of the Curia than who they did choose.
