I have never seen a better example of something that as a member would be perceived as inspirational and as a non-member comes across as terrifying. Be warned that this video is excruciatingly hard to watch as an exmo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U-I8U9EHAA

(description for those curious before clicking: this is a musical flash mob video featuring young men/women in temple square set to inspirational music all intermixed with videos of youth bearing their testimonies)

I can only hope that this was a youth-driven project, because if any adult was involved in that "choreography" they should be embarrassed.

...you're absolutely right though. It's hilarious to be able to put myself in the shoes of a TBM and see how "awesome" that video would be, but that they can't put themselves in the shoes of any other group of people to realize that it would be kitschy at best, & more likely down-right creepy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExT_t6UZw-I is their "making of" video. It was the adult's idea, mostly.

This is a fake "flash mob" video. The editing and camera work
make that obvious. Fake "flash mob" event for a fake church.

Its hilarious that they try to act like all those kids are singing when its actually pre recorded music. Not like a real flash mob where they can actually sing and dance and everyone there isnt involved in the mob. There were only like five onlookers who werent a part of it..

that was the lamest most pathetic dancing, and if it was indeed edited then you think they'd select the parts where they put a little energy in it.

It does remind me of the church though, no strength, no power, no conviction.

This is what you get, 10 years later, when you take your toddler by the hand to the podium, and whisper lies to them so they'll "testify" that the church is twoo.

This video is a blatant statement by the LD$ church that they are brainwashers. What they want, and are getting, are faithful tithe-paying plastic abused children who turn into the adult version of the same thing.

Mormonism is the ultimate child abuse.

Love the dedication-

This video represents 4 months of hard work from 301 youth, 8 committee members, the Stake Presidency, and countless support from family members and other individuals. We express our deep gratitude to everyone involved.

Well, dude that was four months of wasted work. The choreography was just horrendous. However I did like the two girls doing the cartwheels. They needed to watch some Bollywood movies to get some moves. If I may reference a classic quote from the movie “Heathers”, F-k me gently with a chainsaw.

What the hell did they do for 4 months? That must mean that they sat around and talked about it for 3.9 months, then hastily threw everything together on the day. Pure crap!

I don't know where they get off calling this a flashmob. This is more or less nothing more than a poorly choreographed/recorded/orchestrated song and dance number. The choreography is appallingly bad - to me it screams immature youth or immature Relief Society queen.

I'm looking forward to 2 years from now when the church decides to jump on the "Call Me Maybe" parody video bandwagon. Millions of hits on YouTube, brethren!
