I am curious to know whether it is generally only men who view porn. The warnings of this evil practice are generally directed at priesthood holders and I wonder whether women in general do not find it stimulating.

I'm using a broader concept of "porn," one that's more about the psychological roots. It's a fantasy that arouses you, that you fixate on, that is usually rooted in dissatisfaction with reality. It's a substitute for reality. It's artificial fulfillment of a craving, a longing. It's about unrealistic ideals. It's not necessarily about a sexual response. It could be a rush of emotions or hormones. So there are a lot of things that serve as porn.

Women porn tends to be more along the line of romance novels or soap operas, since they are not as visually aroused as men. It's words and touch for women.

Women have just as much a response (sometimes more) to visual stimulation as men.

I'm glad you made this point, Itzpapalotl!

Plus, the open secret about women and porn is that straight women are an increasing demographic of gay male porn consumers.

Bascially men watch visual porn, which is a grievious sin and looked down upon by all in society (especially women) and women read porn and that is viewed as acceptable. Once you start from that point you can understand men and women and our puritanical society better.

Have a nice day!

say what you will about Porn & the LDS 'connection'; If the GAs wanted a Porn question / qualification on the TRI, it would be there.

I've noticed that women tend to gossip more about sex, meaning they discuss their sex lives more directly than men. Not that men don't have conversations about sex, but most of those conversations tend to be less serious. Jokes, etc.

Except, perhaps, to brag.

Same thing as for prostitution: What's an uneducated single mom to do to make the rent? She at least gets paid more than the man. Women seem to be more amused by porn, otherwise.

I'm a woman - 43 - and used to watch porn regularly in my 20s and into early 30s, both with my husband and without. First it was renting videos at West Coast, then on the internet. I liked both straight and gay porn from the beginning, but found it was starting to affect my ability to orgasm when with my DH, so I decided it was no longer for me. My DH will go online if I'm sick or struggling with MS more than usual, but in general his interest in it has always been infrequent, as far as I know. He's never had arousal or ejaculation issues when we knock boots or just fool around ;-)

I find it fascinating that any objection to porn is immediately classified as religious prudishness or the like. Sure, there's plenty of religious nonsense surrounding human sexuality that has no place at the table, but what about this take on it?

My husband and I regularly watch porn both together and solo. To us it's another form of entertainment with a happy ending ;). I'm not the kind of woman who likes reading my pornography I couldn't even stomach three pages into those 50 Shades of Gray books, they're awful in the way they are written, almost how I imagine a 50 year old virgin woman with cats views sex.

Some women watch it, too. My husband and I watch it together and separate, but he more than me. I get bored after awhile and would rather have the real thing. Sometimes it's a good way to learn somethng new and sometimes it's nice just to add some "spice".

Actually, even though more men view porn, the sex shops and so forth get more attention from females because there are far more women that swing both ways in sexual orientation then do men.

A lot of them sex shops are catering to women more than men. Thats a fact jack!
