If the morg is the restoration. This timeline should have the neo-apostles out on the streets.

They are all businessmen devoted to managing the various intricate money-laundering and revenue streams. There is not a single one with any background in theology.

Very telling as to what the priorities there are for "apostles" in the Mormon church.

It wouldn't be effective with the limo and all the security guys around them. It's much better being escorted and having multitudes of mormons bowing and fawning over them than actually dealing with "real" people.

Could you imagine what it would be like if ex-mos and others actually got to go within close proximity to them, and ask them questions? Seems anybody who gets close has already been briefed on what's appropriate....

Good question, especially considering The word "apostle" comes from the Greek word ἀπόστολος (apóstólos)...meaning "sent one"...really it is just a missionary, and if you want to get all technical, the "twelve" are not the only ones referred to as apostles in the Bible. Not trying to force my religion (regular old Chrisian, and nevermo at that) on anybody...just another way TSCC completely twists the Bible to suit its needs (I know, they aren't the only ones...I just enjoy singling them out after my in-laws tried shoving Mo-ism down my throat when I was quite clear about my beliefs before I married their daughter).

The Apostles would actually be any and all missionaries. The "Mormon Apostles", are a professional clergy, whuch they deny. Smith awarded the people he needed most with status and power.

There was no Apostacy and need for restoration.

That's always bothered me too. Traditionally, apostles (early Mormon and Biblical) were called to go out into the world and preach the gospel. Now they just preach to the choir as they let all the lowly members do the dirty work for them.

They don't go out into the world because they can't afford it. Tithing is down and the private chartered jets cost too much. I'm sure a TBM would think I'm kidding...i'm not. The 12 don't hang out in coach with the rest of us.

Mormons are always telling us how every invention ever created was so God could get out the good news about polygamy and green jello. It sounds like it is time for the church to purchase 15 rascal scooters so the apostles can finally follow Jesus's council to go out into the world. Heck, with viagra, they can even follow Brigham Young's and Parley P. Pratt's fine examples.

Because the world doesn't care what a white old IBM business type running a cult who thinks the world should be like the 1950s has to say?

These "Apostles" create an ivory tower in the middle of their Vatican City after living lives in "The World" that had nothing to do with "ministrying" to anyone.

If they think that they are the "restored" church of Jesus, they are one wicked "clone" of that "church."

I love reading Mormon apologists trying to square the LDS circle in drawing comparisons to Jesus' church. It is beyond ridiculous.

It is like trying to prove Noni Juice can cure cancer.

This is actually a good question. IF they really were "apostles" like portrayed in the New Testament, they would be traveling the world and speaking to non-member audiences by appearing on TV, doing interviews, etc. Instead they travel occasionally to member groups (regional conferences) and never (almost never) take questions from the press in a real give and take. They never preach to the heathens, calling them to repentence. They are nothing like the alleged ancient apostles.

In part because they would be insignificant. They have the privilege of living in an isolated bubble adored by those they visit on Sundays and idolized in Utah. They are royalty in a small kingdom.

People outside of the Morridor wouldn't recognize the name of any of these men and would care less about anything they taught.

For them, the Emperor's Clothing of spiritual mightiness shines brightest by those who see it; why risk the chance of being seen naked?

...and I for one don't want to see Tommy, Boyd, et al. naked by any means.

hahaha, Hugh Janus, did you have to? But you had better be sure to make a donation to the "Clothe the Brethren" fund, in that case.

They are and know they are only pretenders. Could you imagine the indignation and surprise of LDS members to watch as one of the mighty apostles went 0-eternity trying to preach the gospel?

When I was a young missionary in Argentina, I used to think that if the Mission President or an Apostle was assigned my area that there would be thousands of conversions because of their great spiritual strength.

Now I see that they would have done no better than me, and possibly worse. I think those men are afraid of being shown for who they REALLY are, NO BODIES.

And to Hugh Janus, sorry for the unintended imagery. Just got a little vomit in my mouth.

Sometimes, for fun, I ask my friends if the recognize the names of current (at least as of seven years ago) LDS leaders. The only two that ever get recognized are Joseph Smith and more often, Brigham Young.

Funny how Holland can be so "knowledgable" about what would happen to prospective missionaries going out to the field "unworthy." All I can say if this tripe was spewed by one of the other 13 it would be hypocrisy at its finest. At least he and Oaks went out to "preside" over Chile and The Philipines respectively back in the day...

They don't go out because:

1. They are incapable of dealing with the day-to-day challenges in the real world;

2. They are not able to deliver what they promise or practice what they preach and so will embarrass themselves in front of the whole world;

3. They know it is NOT twoooooo and so can't deal with those who confront them about this;

4. People will come to know, on a personal level, that they do NOT have divine authority or power over anything.

The list can go on and on.

They burst into flame when exposed to reality?
