A comment on another thread got me to wondering about information that is available in other languages. Does anyone know if there is detailed MormonThink type info written in Portuguese? My husband served in Brazil and still speaks and writes in Portuguese. I don't want to reinvent the wheel if these websites already exist but we have been itching to DO SOMETHING! The Brazilians loved my husband because he was a blond blue eyed American. Maybe telling our story to Brazilians would be helpful. We arent' afraid to use our real names (as soon as all family members know).

Google Translate does an ok job (it is usually decipherable in another language)

Google Translate lets you pick quite a few languages.
When I was on a mission in Chile ('02-'04) it was very common for folks there to use Google Translate to figure out what a site said.

It is a great effort to pursue. I did see one unmaintained site that was in Portuguese discussing Mormon institutional lies and cult issues. I think it is a better gesture than apologizing to past converts, because it is forward looking and can be helpful in providing truthful information to current and future targets of the Cult.

As for other languages, my "investigator's tract" (www.exmormon.org/tract2.htm) has been translated into nine languages: German, Finnish, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Danish, Spanish, Chinese and Korean (for links, see http://packham.n4m.org/tract.htm at the bottom)

The reason TSCC can still convert in poorer countries is that many people are illiterate or semi-literate and don't read but only go by oral presentations and "feelings".

Brazil is the world's 7th largest economy, very high tech and extremely internet penetrated. Everyone of every income level has a cellphone and uses the internet, regardless of their literacy skills or their 'feelings', and even if they live in a house made of cardboard. Having exmo info out there in portuguese is a very worthwhile endeavor, and I hope some energetic whipper-snapping RM apostates--american or otherwise--are taking on the challenge. It would be great if it wasn't all just google translated, but at least that's a start.
