Just finished this book. I saw many parallels with scientiology and the LDS church - forced confessionals, testimony meetings (called "wins" in scientology), unpaid or low-paid workforce except at the higher levels, use of acronyms (LDS, MIA, YW, YM, PPI, RS, different treament for celebrities, shunning, separation of families (mormon church threat is separation in the afterlife), church hierarchy, strict avoidance of any anti-scientology materials, isolation, power struggles for the top after L. Ron Hubbard died etc. The list goes on and on. You could literally cite parallels on every page.

I read "I'm Perfect, You're Doomed: Tales from a Jehovah's Witness Upbringing" by Kyria Abrahams--it, too, was chock full of parallels to the Mormon experience.

Who knew? All this time we thought we were peculiar, but it looks like everyone else is peculiar in much the same way!

Well, not everyone! You've just picked 3 of the weirdest religions in the world and compared those to each other.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just looked it up on Amazon and am going to buy it. The glossary of JW terms is one of the funniest things I've read in quite a while!
