"submitted 22 letters of support" that makes me mad. Yup when he is in prison they will miss his tithing and fast offering money. What a brave girl for telling her parents and good parents for going to the police.
Thanks for posting the link, Richdanny. I hadn't heard about this creep and would have missed it entirely without your post.
From the linked article: ------------------------------ "The accusations of abuse apparently caused a divide in the church's congregation. Some church members ostracized the victim's family, Deputy Prosecutor Jessica Smith said during Friday's hearing.
The victim's father said the family had to move so that his daughter could attend another school and the family could attend a different church.
He said his daughter has grappled with anger, depression, anxiety and insomnia as a result of the abuse. One of the hardest lessons for the family to accept is that bad things can happen in sacred places, he said." ------------------------------
Some of the "the Saints" in the congregation ostracized the family. Do they think the little girl was dressed immodestly and was somehow asking for it? Do they agree with Richard "Dickhead" Scott's GC talk that victims of abuse have some blame in the abuse perpetrated on them? Do they fault the parents for going to the police rather than letting the bishop "counsel" Brother Molests-Little-Girls, possibly the same bishop who was inspired to call the molester to teach primary?
I wonder if those 22 people who wrote letters "describing the good the defendant had done in the community and in their individual lives" would let their little girls go to his house for a sleepover or even sit next to him during Primary Sharing Time.
Apparently, in the eyes of those who ostracized this family, the little girl was expendable and the family needs to be punished for not protecting the priesthood holder and TSCC from looking bad to the gentiles.
