Did anyone else notice that the two new counselors in the Young Women's presidency were Sister McConkie and Sister Marriott. I'm sure that was an "inspired" calling and had nothing to do with their family names. Stuff like that makes it all seem like an exclusive club.

It's just like high school, where the popular kids get all the "titles".

The name McConkie makes me cringe; Ol' Bruce was the biggest blowhard tyrant I ever heard at a Stake Conference.

Yep I noticed that. I was surprised that they did put a token Hispanic in at least one of the positions.

Has anyone kept track of the rampant nepotism? that would be a great news story.

He goes through the genealogy of general authorities and shows how so many are related.

Nepotism has been rampant for years. Token ethnic appointments are only a start for what's to come. Let sister missionaries think that they are now really important by telling them that they can be more involved in the mission, but they cannot have a calling like district or zone leader. And the LDSINC loves and accepts them, because they can change and get over their evil ways. Gotta get that McDonkie in somewhere.

Wouldn't surprise me if the hispanic was related to someone. Romney?

It's the same in my home country. The CES director (a pretty cushy job) had been the AP for a current apostle. He also became a mission president, and I think he got his CES job back when he returned. Don't get me wrong, I'm not jealous when people get these callings but when was the last time an average working person with no connections was called as a 70 or an apostle? CES people sometimes, but mostly successful business owners, lawyers, maybe some doctors or dentists. So either they always worked for the church or they have money. Just doesn't seem to have much to do with inspiration but everything to do with situation.

Isn't it marvelous.. isn't it wonderful that we have these

highly well connected families and educated mba's , lawyers,

doctors, bankers and businessmen that talk to God for us

on our behalf.

Jesus would be so proud
