http://attorneygeneral.utah.gov/cmsdocuments/The_Primer.pdfPage 7 of the linked document discusses the origins of polygamy in Utah and Arizona. Mormonism, Mormons, and Mormon political allies have been a big part of the United States as the religion and its' members seek to force their religious beliefs on a society with a secular constitution. Failing to enforce secular laws against polygamy by choice has also been going on in The Mormon church through its' politically powerful communities selecting where to put resources and what crimes to tolerate, enable, or ignore.
Hopefully this document will provide ways for those who find this criminal practice of Joseph Smith polygamy against women and children to interact with Utah officials in order to get them to stop this ritual of early Mormonism. Perhaps their religious biases towards the doctrines that preach this as an eternal doctrine make it counter to their beliefs, but as a United States what is tolerated in Utah is not accepted elsewhere.
Maybe this is a states rights issue and Utahns believe polygamy to be less important than enforcing the purchase of beer on Sunday, or drinking hard liquor without a meal and club membership.
Can Utah put this in order or will this 150 plus year problem, continue 10, 20, 50, 150 more years.
