The fact that Wilde met with John Taylor in SLC is hilarious. I truly hope that someone would write a fictionalization of their meeting, preferably in the form of a play. I knos that it would be beyond hysterical.
Wilde is a good example of how, strangely, people accepted offbeat people, gay people and even agnostics during the Victorian era. I guess they took liberty and free speech more seriously even though they were supposed to be very morally straight-laced. Wilde toured across the US and received glowing reviews.
Robert Ingersoll, the Great Agnostic, also toured and spoke before crowds of thousands.
