Google has been quite a problem for LDS Inc. It has caused them to spin, rewrite, deny and dance.

Facebook could be bigger problem for LDS Inc. Bigger as in exponentially bigger. Where Google would be the questioning in theory, Facebook is the actual theory put into practice.

This letter, particularly the the maps and graphs, undoubtedly will make it into bishop and other local leaderships offices around the country.

This letter, and letters like it, are actually starting intellectual fires in wardhouses across the country that sooner or later are going to be impossible to continue to ignore.

This is a direct strike to the heart of the beast because the golden families that lead, fund, and procreate for the actual running of the company at a local level will be forced to confront the very issues they have always denied existing.

This could be very big.

Operation Checkmate has begun.

I read it. Pretty good summary of the problems with church history. But then it's also riddled with personal opinions that detract from its credibility.

For instance, dowsing has been scientifically proven to work and even today is used in well digging. Because professional dowsers get good results. Yet here there's this undercurrent of Mormon-like closed-mindedness.

Facts should be presented, not interpreted. Or at least, interpreted in a way that doesn't condescend. Showing you have an axe to grind causes the target audience to dismiss the whole thing as a rant.

Could you round up some of those Scientific proofs? Some peer reviewed scientific sources.

I can share a strategy. Many people think getting this out to family and friends is the way, depending on objectives this can be true.

What is most powerful is to use FB, Twitter, and Pininterest influencers that are interested in this subject or friendly to the content or that would be Trojan Horses in that they are a magnet for a target audience (you'll see this in examples below, I.e. Steve Young)

News media--Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell (lawyer on Big Love), Bill Maher, Glenn Beck

Sports heroes--Steve Young, Danny Ainge, Monte Te'o, Charles Barkley, LeBron James, Jimmer Fredette, Magic Johson

Entertainment--Lady Gaga, Kim Kardasian (interracial marriage), Elton John, Cher, Ellen deGeneres, Oprah, P Diddy, BravoTV, "The Book of Mormon"--cast, fans, writers

Politics--any LDS politician, any politician that has a large following,

Current Events--#Taxes, #Socialism, #Africa, #Europe, #Mexico

Any of these can either be tagged or copied or included in the content in the different media form so as to incorporate them, or their followers with the content. For a person with one million followers only half of one percent click on the link that's 5,000 people who knows how many would read, not many but more than just copying family and friends

By choosing cause friendly situations they actually may pass along, endorse, advocate on the information. They same could happen for cause unfriendly people in opposite, but the point is to start the conversation and get the volume up. Glenn Beck would most likely never accept the content, but he is out of control enough to try and attack the content or defend the lies.

Anyways, a brief primer on Social Media marketing.

The letter lays out the issues in a logical, well-supported fashion. And it could easily go viral if even 10 people post it on their blogs and/or FB timelines.

Does anyone know if any of the Bloggernacle peeps have seen it or commented on it yet?

'Glenn Beck would most likely never accept the content, but he is out of control enough to try and attack the content or defend the lies.'

LDS lies are indefensible. Beck might try to confront this letter because the truth is something he cares little about. In the big picture he has little credibility.

The point is he is a blowhard without a disciplined intellect and can increase the volume. The content is very solid, if he discusses it it becomes part of what is know as "Social Media Marketing". Historically there has been little way for the masses to get content into the public forum, we now have this happening with YouTube, Twitter, Pininterest, and somewhat Facebook.

This is one of the ways. Glenn Beck is a loose cannon, he might bite, and then the CES Letter becomes part of the reality of him and his communit. Even in opposition this exposes the truthful content of the letter to hundreds of thousands.

Can you see Glenn Beck in a worthiness interview? Or tithing settlement..

The thought of Glenn Beck sitting there in the Bishop's office being asked if he obeyed they law of chastity? If he was a full tithe payer?

(sorry, a little off topic.)

This has been in the Mormon Stories community for well over a month. There is a lot of crossover from that community and the bloggernacle. I assume many of them have seen it.

I have to wonder if the executive leadership of LDS Inc will reach a 'tipping point' at some point in time to decide to respond to the criticism.

More and more people are posting this on facebook. This simply cannot be written off as lies or mistruths.

This is not going to go away, rather it is going to fester.

I don't think FARMS and FAIR is capable of extinguishing this fire.

FYI, I know that they (GAs and church historians) are working on a way to respond to the criticisms about JS and church history.

They have been lying about it for over one hundred years. There is no way to spin their fraud. Do what is right let the consequence follow, does have an expiration date. You can't confess after you've been found guilty and been convicted.

I completely agree that they have no real way out of the mess that they're in. I was just saying that I know that they are currently in the process of trying to compile "answers" that go into increasing degrees of detail that will address/pacify those who are trying to seek explanations from the church for issues in the church. The GA my wife is related to seemed pretty excited about it.

I wouldn't put too much stock into a GA being excited over something. How many new programs, etc. come around that will be the answer to everything? It's always the next greatest inspired thing, until it flops.

I just ran across this letter for the first time, and while I realize it is an open letter, for purposes of counter-indoctrination, I would suggest that the quotes heading the conclusion should be put forefront, to perhaps mitigate the auto-block mental walls that go up.

For Jeremey,

schmendrick makes an interesting point. On the 2nd page consider inserting those 2 paragraphs, centered below in a nice graphic under "To my beautiful young children…that you may one day understand."

“Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a Prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground. If Joseph was a deceiver, who willfully attempted to mislead people, then he should be exposed, his claims should be refuted, and his doctrines shown to be false...” – President Joseph Fielding Smith

“If we have the truth, it cannot be harmed by investigation. If we have not the truth, it ought to be harmed.” – President J. Reuben Clark

---just a thought --- EXCELLENT letter to the Nth degree!

I just posted a link to the letter on my facebook page with the message: "Some topics for conversation the next time mormon missionaries come knocking on your door:"

No TBM is going to read it anyway so you might as well target your non-mormon friends. I'm sure someone is going to have some fun the next time they see a mormon missionary ;)
