We had a thread making fun of Mormon names, but consider the shiitake mushroom. What the hell were HIS parents thinking?

As a side note, you "leave" a shiit, not "take" a shiit. dunno why we say that. That's nasty!

... give a shiit, Ron, but only on very rare occasions.

I usually don't!

Kinda like the mother who names her daughter "Ashole" and then gets pissed when people pronounce it wrong. "It's supposed to be Ah-SHO-Li!"

I'd post my ex's name, but there might be some people who know him. His first name is his grandmother's maiden name. It isn't anything like Steven or Richard or anything either. It is rather "humerous" of you ask me.

One day we came home from F&T meeting and I said something about "Why would ANYONE name their child that?" He looked at me like, "What the hell are you talking about--what about my name?"

Yep--really odd name.

And his mother must have been a feminist--as all of her children have her maiden name as their middle name.

Some old mormon families make / made it a practice to use the mother's maiden name as a middle name especially for the sons. My sister's first husband's family for example.

Probably to help the polygynous father keep track of which Nephi was which.

They had a premier during the Bush years (gag!) who was named Takashita or something close. The news people found different ways to say it for our American ears. ;)

NPR had a story today were the guy was talking about "A Big Hawk" and prairie dogs.

Say a big hawk out loud, and you'll see what I heard.
