When I was nine, the Sunday school teacher told me that if I were good enough, I just might get a visit from a heavenly angel. The thought scared the hell out of me. I deliberatly called my brother a rude name later that day, so I would fall below the line of "good enough to see angels". F that.

Cripes, the first time I read your subject line, I thought it said "disembowled" glowing man.

When I was a teenager, the LDS cult taught me that there were invisible spirits all around me all the time, watching everything I did...gave me nightmares and made me somewhat paranoid. I am SO GLAD I don't believe in that sh** anymore.

HAHAHA I would always try not to think about the spirits watching me when I would take a shower or go to the bathroom!

I was terrified of angels and crap like that when I was a kid too.
Maybe if they give you a little warning before before they came, I mean it's really not polite to just show up in someones bedroom in the middle of the night, especially on a school night. Sadly, a lot of non mormons believe in angels too. I prefer leprechauns, or maybe gnomes.

I remember being told, when I was a deacon, that every LDS male eventually had a face to face encounter with an evil spirit. He then told us the Mormon belief about asking demons to shake your hand, because we were going to need that stuff. The instructor absolutely believed that, and I took it to heart. Scared the crap out of me. I lived in constant fear of it the rest of my boyhood, and it even followed me into adulthood until I eventually got over the religious bug. Made working the night shift hell.

This scripture always bothered me, as if Lucifer's followers were so stupid they would try to shake your hand even though they couldn't.

How easy would it be for a mormon to be tricked by demon? All the demon has to do is not move when the mormon tries to shake his hand. Then the mormon will say, "oh I see. You're the spirit of a just man made perfect. What do you want?"

And then the demon will smirk and tell the mormon to have sex with a goat or something. I don't know what demons tell people...

According to Mormon teachings, angels may or may not have bodies. They are human in form (no wings).

When my children were in the primary grades they attended a school operated by another church. Their mother was terrified of "family life" (sex-ed) education in public schools.

My ~10 yera old son had a raging argument with a teacher at the school. He was to play an angel in the Christmas pageant but refused to wear wings on his costume. "Don't they know angels do *not* have wings!"
