Why does Harry Reid consider himself a Mormon?

Harry Reid supports abortion and gay rights or gay marriage.
Why is he lauded as a famous Mormon on famous Mormon websites and alllowed to attend Mormont temples?

Is it hypocrisy of the Mormon church to aloow him to go into a Mormon temple when otehrs would not be allowed?

Reid considers himself Mormon because he was baptized into the Mormon church.

Is there really something else that may or may not qualify him?

Also, why are you wondering why he supports gay marriage? Sounds like we should be praising him for being ethical.

We live in a very diverse, secular society

protected by a document that seems to give individuals the right to live their own lives according to their own consciences. Therefore, on issues of great complexity, it is best to protect people's rights to come down where they themselves decide.

It sounds like you would like some parts of a theocracy installed and are calling Sen. Reid out because he rejects that.

Because Mormons used to believe politically in helping the poor and preserving the environment, and now they just believe in hating gays and stopping abortion.
