I was technically a Mormon for one year. I joined Mormonism as an atheist who knew everything they taught was false. I know what you are thinking. " Why would an atheist have any desire to join the church". I live in a rural area and don't have a car. I was lonely everyday and had nowhere to go. Because I was carless, the Mormons were my only ticket to getting out of the house ( They were giving me rides). I had been through traumatic experiences and they were there to talk to me. At first the church members love bombed me and I loved all the attention from the missionaries. After a while it faded. My ward did not have a young singles ward; everyone in the church was so busy with their giant litters of kids that they did nto have time for me. I became best friends with my visiting teacher and I love her to death. She is the main reason why I stayed in a year. The church services began to bore me more and more. The 3 hours drove me nuts. After skipping church for a month because I knew that if I went I would go insane I decided to resign. I emailed my resignation 2 days ago. I am moving to a new city and I look forward to the people I will meet there. My ward was very sweet and I appreciate what they have done for me but I am tired of living a lie. I wonder if I am the first atheist to get baptized.

Probably not the first. The love bombing is what gets you. Welcome, and I can definitely dig the name. ;)
