Your a couple hundred years too late to tie it to theBook of Mormon - that's like saying George Washingtons grave was just overturned when in reality it was Ronald Reagans grave that was discovered - If you read it you would know the last communication on the gold plates occured about 160 years before this Mayan saga of Holmul -what is interesting is the data stating they were restored to their rightful place in the heirarchal chain a theme that was a constant struggle for Book of Mormon Lamanites and obviously for these Mayan people as well - so they continued some of the same behavioral characteristics. This must not be overlooked.

The Book of Mormon is the only book that talks about Nephites and Lamanites. The only "historical" record found using those names. And an angel grabbed the golden plates and carried them off in the sky. I saw this treasure on the news and think it is only a matter of time before it is spun into a Mormon tall archeological tale.

Clearly the storm god is Jesus: you know, a couple days after you get nailed to a cross those wounds start to get really sore and you get so cranky you could destroy some cities and make the sky go dark for 3 days, but after some Tikal Tylenol you're OK to descend on a pillar of light and be Mr. Nice Guy again.
