Cruising around the web, I ran across this. I never would have imagined! I met a lot of gay Elders in the showers at the Baths before they closed, but... I got to this website via a Craigslist ad about the Anza Borrego Nudist Resort.

This goes to show, like in the Middle East, where sexual repression is rampant...homosexuality is also rampant as well. In Egypt and Saudi Arabia, males' first sexual encounter is with other males even if they're "straight."

'strictly speaking', nudism isn't related to either 'swinging' or to any specific sexual preference, I'm attempting to be Honest & Straight-forward about 'pure' nudity/naturism.

OK, and yes, based on my own occasional experiences, there is a vast difference between free nude beaches and nudist camps. People might google /ACLU nudist hall of shame/ (I don't want to give the link because that contains other links as 'evidence' of softcore child porn).

The times I went to a camp/ranch, it was with a blended family I'd met at a beach. Slight odd vibe between stepfather & stepdaughter, but that vibe was an undercurrent at the camp as well. First, the "bro science" used to justify the health benefits of nudism seemed to cover (aha! not really 'naked'!) something else...like this wasn't the real reason everyone participated. For people who proclaimed that they took the naked body for granted, there was in my opinion too much focus on bodies, in terms of comments, jokes, recreational activities. Nudism did not free them from body identification, it confirmed this. Lest it appear that I zeroed in on this precisely because it is lacking in my ordinary life among clothed persons, it stood out because there wasn't much focus on other topics of human interest--news, politics, religion, sports, literature, you name it.

Years later when I saw that internet site, things clicked and I could totally see how this may have been the bulk of the iceberg, whereas for my few visits I had only seen the tip.

Nudist 'camps'? like 'nudist colonies', that terminology has been passé for around 30 + years...

"Resort"? To me, that connotes a much more polished (and pricey) operation than the one I visited, which really was a camp (and 30 years ago sounds about right). Oh, and something else was weird: no doors on the toilet stalls. In fact only half-stalls...or no stalls at all, just a row of toilets (were the stalls removed by the management when they acquired the facilities, as a statement that 'we are not ashamed of our bodily functions'?)

Is the name change a PR move or does it reflect substantive changes? The site I referred to above shows that the greatest potentially negative impact is on children. I know, the party line that growing up without shame is so much more healthy, but aside from possible coercion to do so, I also think that the veiled lewd humor and casual exhibitionism were giving kids a different kind of sex education.
