AMCAP Journal/VOL. 12, NO. 1-1986, by Kristen 1. Goodman, MS, and Tim B. Heaton, PhD
**********************

The report referenced above indicates that for every 19 single active LDS men over the age of 30, there are 100 women (and no, I am not advocating polygamy, or anything like that).

Remember also that the report above uses data from 1981-- the ratios have probably worsened since then.

The sad truth of the data, though, indicates increasing pressure on LDS women. If they want to get married AND remain LDS, that data indicates that many of them *must* go outside of the church to find a husband, ostensibly via an attempt to convert the unsuspecting man. Otherwise many of the women must resign themselves to remaining unmarried.

And this, of course, leads to what many call a "hormonal conversion" for the men that fall for it.

Many LDS authorities (bishops, etc.) have recognized this problem, and have even evolved methodologies for suggesting to the woman how to conduct a successful "hormonal conversion".

I would like to hear stories of this, if anyone would care to share.

Nevin Pratt
