I LOVE that one. It has all sorts of pictures in the back . . . of the Anthon Transcript, and a bunch of archaeological stuff that I could consider embarrassing to the church.
That's a nice start on blowing MORmONISM wide open. If you want a real eye opener pick up one of the reproductions of the original edition of the BoM, recently published by TBMs. (MORmONS just don't realize when they are really shooting themselves in the foot)
...the old editions of Mary Baker Eddy's textbook, "Science & Health." But there were so many old editions, with radical differences: chapter re-arrangements, major changes in her teaching, pages and pages that just disappeared, new chapters that showed up, etc.
Now Christian Science academics "study the evolution and maturation of her thought" as it "progressed" through the various editions.
I wonder if there's any chance that tscc could use such an approach with the changes in their canon. Strikes me as quite a rhetorical agenda.
