Joseph Smith and Martin Harris were talking one day after church when out of nowhere Joseph said, "You know Brother Harris, I would really like to get the phrase "The Fear of God" tattooed on the side of my penis." Martin Harris replied, "Why would you want to do that?" To which Joseph responded,"So that I can put The Fear of God into the Daughters of Z

That's funny freegirl. Before I clicked on the discussion that was the first quote that popped up in my head. It still amazes me that people like Thomas Paine were able to see through religion the way they did during that time period. It took me a good deal of time to get out of the church; even with the giant leaps in our understanding of the world that we have made since Mr. Paine's time. I

Exactly. If you were still active and paying tithing in the church, you would interpret your success as a reward for your diligence.

A few years back around Christmas time my wife and I were about 800$ short from all the things that usually hit bank around that time of the year. Unfortunately this year included some unforeseen car maintenance which added to the bill as well. We planned just to eat it and let it ride on our credit card until we could pay off all the expenses; until two weeks before Christmas, out of the blue,

I've read all those and I'm still not convinced. That's the thing with these atheist scientists, they never have any new arguments. Plus, the fact that most of those authors are atheists automatically discredits any thing they say.

What was the name of the book? I once took a meteorology course in college so I understand science. I'll give it a try, but I don't think it will convince me!

I know! People only get sick because they are negative. My friend Cheryl is one of the most positive people I know and she never gets sick! How is something so small and you can't see suppose to hurt you anyways?

I mean, it is just a "theory", right? It's not like we can observe the germs! It seems to me that it takes just as much faith, if not more, to believe in germ theory than intelligent illness!

Or am I the lone one? I mean germ theory doesn't really explain where the dinosaurs went or why the earth revolves around the sun. Too many gaps, unanswered questions, "leaps of faith" to be made for me to think germ theory is the one TRUE way. The jury is still out.

I think it's quite obvious that the City Creek Mall shall swallow up all other malls. It will grow and flourish and spread from the rivers to the ends of the earth, and survive when all others should be laid in ruins. The failings of GGP are evidence of this!

Very well written and emotionally delivered. I've always enjoyed his prose as it is characteristically Hitchens.

Rameumptoms are spoken of in the book of Alma. They were literally a high tower that preached from that Alma viewed as sinful. In Mormon speak rameumptom has been used as a metaphor for pride or arrogance.

Yeah, Mr. Deity is really hit and miss (as far as the humor goes). I must admit that, overall, I really love the show; especially the Mormon references. In fact I met Brian Dalton (Mr. Deity himself) at TAM 8 conference in Las Vegas. The first thing he said when I told him that I'm an ex-mormon was, "Oh, so you're a ForMon too, eh?" He seemed like a genuine guy and I liked the name

You also have to take into account that they have been selected and weeded out for their obedience and their ability to not be involved in any scandals. (Or their ability to not let the scandals see the light of day) If any of them had the type of personality that kicked up a lot of dirt, they would have been filtered out by the system a long time ago.
