I've got a Windows Phone 7 LG Quantum and I couldn't be happier with it. There's a few things I'd love to have on an Android (mostly a couple extra games) and that Square credit card reader - for my small home biz. Other than that, the phone's really quite nice.

I think you're right. I'm hoping, if it's a preliminary love song for the GOP candidates, it's pathetic. I sincerely hope you're right and the opposing candidates will bring up the history of LDS inc and how Huntsman and Romney's ancestors fit into it all. I have no doubt Obama will win again - especially given the current GOP crop. As much as I'd like to see Ron Paul win, he's not going to ga

You all seen this article yet? It's making the rounds on my LDS friends facebook wall. The author makes a case against Parker & Stone for not "getting it" and creating an atmosphere of intolerance for the Mormons. He says, "I am no Mormon, but I have witnessed bigotry and ignorance directed against this American community. The LDS Church is placed in the difficult position

Haven't read Epstein's book yet, but thanks for the recommend. I really liked "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. Its right up there with Hitchens, in my mind. The first four pages Hitchens wrote about old Joe Smith validated nearly every feeling I had about LDS inc.

Hell, I'd go just to show support for your sister and your family. Even partake in the sacrament if you so desire - it's not going to do you any harm. Just don't wear the traditional white shirt & tie uniform! Wear a polo, stand out, be different - leave when sacrament meeting is over and be the good big brother to reserve a table for after lunch at a restaurant. But for Joseph's sake, DON'T

Well hell, I could save them the time if he'd actually call my number and tell them a nice polite (not so polite if they don't understand) "Thanks, go away now." Actually, I wouldn't mind for them to return...I'd love to give him a giant Walmart sack full of the scriptures, Ensigns, and all the stuff I have in a box and tell him to give them to someone else. Of course, if they ge

I can't understand why he and his wife dropped by. My family and I haven't been active in the church for over 9 months, my teen's opened the door and spoke with them on the porch (since I wasn't here at the time) and they said they'd call back. Sure wish I was here for them, I could've given them all the mormon crap I have boxed up!! Wonder if they heard I was talking to fence-sitting members

I hear ya! there's a few on my friends list - that after this rapture nonsense - have been spouting off all kinds of bible verses and nonsense like it's a baptist church revival! and on MY wall, I don't have any fear letting people know I'm an atheist.

I can't believe I never made it to the temple endowments to get my new name!! I always wondered what nonsensical, drawn from the back of Lord Of The Rings name it would be. Or for that matter my Patriarchal Blessings. Dammit!! I missed out! ;)

In response to the strong evidence about JS and the church, I know when I started studying and trying to figure out - well - anything/everything, I came across something that made me turn around and say "Screw it". JS stylized his beginnings as a prophet directly off the biography of Mohammed and Islam. ONLY, Joe realized most people at that time hadn't heard about Mohammed or would be

There's a poor elder from our area stake up there and I look forward every week to his emails from the field. (sad, I know) but I find it amazing how difficult a time he's having pitching the Morg idea up there. It's heartbreaking to read how this kid is trying to figure out what he's doing wrong but keeping his chin up and soldiering on for the lord. He SHOULD be in college right now instead of

I did that on Saturday night on the "Chat with a Mish". I acted like I was all confused and lost because the rapture was supposed to happen but I was still here. Me:"I'm troubled. I've tried to be a good person and treat everyone well." Mish: "That's great! What troubles you?" Me: "Well, today was supposed to be the Rapture and I waited up all day preparing

You all have made some really good points. I personally have a hard time with any type of belief system that says I'm going to live in eternal suffering/hell because I don't believe in a "loving, kind god", but an evil ass like Jeffrey Dahmer can go to "heaven" because he repented of all his evil acts at the 11th Hour can be freed for all eternity. I call bullshit.(sorry ab

I've seen the mishies in my area all hanging out and visiting out of the ways stores (on non-pdays). They were goofing around and trying to pass the time. Of course, I've got a missionary friend still in the field that somehow manages to send emails and update his facebook pages on his p-days and even facebook chat! :) I applaud him for bucking the system!

I'd find a less confrontational way to address that issue...if my wife said something like that, I'd be livid. Maybe say something about, "You saw a report on Dateline/20-20/whatever about this thing called the (say it all questioning like) "down-low" about how married guys screw around and mess around with other men and no one EVER really knows until it's too late. I don't have

It's all good fun to read the boards, and yea, I agree sometimes it gets kinda heated or hateful. (I'm thinking the Japanese earthquake board from the tsunami incident - and the woman who kept changing her tune) But it all reminds me of a jpeg my son found online. It's a picture of a mentally disabled kid running in the Special Olympics and the caption says, "Arguing on the internet is li

Kinda nervous for me. I found this site by accident while searching for information after slinking out of my last sacrament meeting. It took my awhile to realize I could register on the board too! :) I really enjoy the conversation you all post, especially when it comes to Raptor Jesus and the older people here. I may not comment on everything (who has the time) but i always try to read and pr

Slightly off topic, but a friend of mine went to the local Buddhist temple to ask the monks about enlightenment and the monk he asked asked him if he wanted a blowjob! That being said, I had a book passed out by the Buddhists on the teachings of Buddha and I got more inspiration from that then the bible. Before converting to LDS inc, I tried to follow more Hindu principles.

I opened myself up to believing in the stories and hoping "the great man in the sky" was real when I was part of the church. Since seeing how religion is practiced by different groups as a means of controlling their "flock", I look at it like a hustler playing 3 card Monty. Especially after reading about the evolving of the Hebrew god El into his current status. Ultimately

That was a good report, thanks for sharing! I never got to experience the temple with my wife because I couldn't stop breaking the WOW or actually give them 10% of my income. Wonder what really goes on in the veil room? Is it like Big Love?

> Using kids to shame other kids and adults is > degrading to everyone involved. This even happened in our ward because my wife and I weren't following the WOW and we were "told" on. I hated it.
