If it were this time last year, I'd be able to help...I went to BYU last fall but left after 1 semester. I turn 20 in December. I wish I would've had like-minded people to talk to when I was going through the transition! Luckily, I had one good friend who I told and he was ok with it, but if you tell the wrong person, you can get kicked out...

I started researching in mid-September, decided to leave BYU, cancel my mission call, not go to church again, and move back to Texas within a month. When you say you mostly just feel pity, that pretty much sums up how I felt. Luckily, I got out early enough to where I didn't waste my whole life doing it. It's almost a year later and I've never been happier in my entire life.

I love the elegy Funeral Blues by Auden. I love how grossly satirical it is but also how you'd have no idea unless you knew the background. It's so emotional and can easily be mistaken for strong grief and sorrow. It's up for personal interpretation though, of course.

This is a villanelle that I came across today and was fascinated by it. Villanelles are incredibly difficult to write, but he did this so seemingly effortlessly. ----------------------------------- Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night By: Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. I was in the same boat. I went to BYU after high school for the fall semester. During that semester, I've decided the same as you. I moved to a different town for school, live in a house that isn't my parents, and I don't talk to my family about my decision and such. Being away from them made it much easier and gave each party a time to cool down and think. Things with my family aren't weird at a

Actually, all of the 12 and first presidency are sustained as "prophets, seers, and revelators." TSM is the president.

About a month after I got my mission call, my parents told me they would come up to BYU and go through the temple with me. When people found out I got my call, I had countless texts, facebook messages, conversations saying "No matter what you see in the temple, just remember. The church is true. You may think it's weird at first, but if you don't understand, remember. It's true. No matter wh

Oh, lame. I guess they only make them available in DVD. I do know that if you rent the DVD's (even some public libraries have full seasons, you'd be surprised), you can rip them to your computer, load on iTunes, and sync them to your iPad as well.

Patience is key. Eventually the parents will come around...they will learn to respect your ability to be your own person and do what will ultimately make you happy. It may not be soon, but it will eventually happen. They have unconditional love for you as well, but the morg teaches them to act they way they do. Unfortunately for us BIC kids, it's such taboo to even question the church. But eventu

I believe that if you get any netflix account, you can stream season 1-5 through the iPhone/iPad app from the app store. The app itself is free and you can also get a free month trial from netflix with unlimited streaming. Just put in your credit card info, get the free trial, and cancel when you're close to the end. Not only can you watch Big Love, but lots of movies or other shows too. You c

If your parents are pretty TBM (mine were. Dad was bishop, mom was stake primary president), then you won't have an option whether or not to go to church until you're out of the house. You can be 18, an adult, whatever, but you most likely won't have much of a choice. Think about the pros and cons of living with your TBM parents vs your non-mo dad, see which plays off better over the next 4+ year

They're also the creators of South Park and the movie "Orgazmo" (the one where a Mormon missionary ends up acting in a porno to pay for his temple marriage). If you haven't seen the south park episode they wrote about the mormons, heres a link: http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s07e12-all-about-the-mormons It's too funny, watched it twice today :P
