I think you described it so eloquently. My mother and I mourn at times still mourn the loss of our "identity." We so badly wanted to belong somewhere and fit in - and Mormons looked so happy we thought we could be happy there too. However, no matter how hard we tried, we never fit in and never felt good enough. We were constantly striving for something we could never be... robots!

You're right. Mormons don't follow the BoM. If they did, they wouldn't be so self-righteous and un-Christianlike.

I was friends on facebook with a church member's brother, who I had been introduced to when he would visit for the summer. He was a pretty cool guy, didn't take the church seriously and drank beer. Lately, I his facebook status's have been TBM sounding, including the one he posted last night. He has had a stomach bug, and posted, "I've been able to hold down water since my dad gave me pr

I cringe every time I hear someone on the porch. When I hear footsteps on the porch my stomach twists in knots. That is true for my mother and younger sister. No one expected a visit on Christmas Day. My little sister had surgery not too long ago and we have had neighbors drop by with floral arrangements for her along with deliveries of flowers and teddy bears. My mom thought it was another

A pineapple a day keeps the Mormons away...dang wait, they brought it. What this country needs is a chicken in every pot and a pineapple patch in every back yard. A little dole will do ya.

Well, in my mom's defense, it's her household. I live there. Apparently to Mormon's, "no contact" means no home teachers. Which is fine because we hadn't had any visiting teachers or home teachers for three months before we resigned! The tampon thing.. it was just hilarious that there is an unwrapped tampon sitting on the coffee table in plain sight of their "innocent" a

The out of both sides of the mouth talk, the I didn't mean it thet way you took it spiel, the what's wrong with you, you missed my point by a mile crap stops now. The opening post did NOT state it was OT. It was not an oversight, so skip the good intended 'oh I made an honest mistake.' Even though the opening post says it 'really isn't anyone here'...it did not say OFF TOPIC of Mormonism.

I feel as if this thread is directed at me and my recent post about a pineapple. If my thread offended you, too bad. I don't feel that I have to be politically correct about anything that has happened to me via the hands of the Mormon church. I think it is total bullshit that people who hurt me and my family, who treated us like crap, who threw us under the bus in favor of a more wealthy pe

My family resigned from the TSCC a couple of months ago, and in the process told our old bishop that we didn't want any contact from them. I was at work yesterday and got a text message from my husband that our old bishop and his wife showed up to our house, unannounced, on Christmas Day. He told me he ignored them and went downstairs to drink beer in the basement, but my mom let them in.

My entire life I have never wanted to have children. It wasn't until I met my husband that I began to entertain the idea of having children. That idea died out when we got a puppy last March. I was going to school fulltime and working and when I would come home and had to take the dog for hour long walks so it would poop and just really wanted to go to bed, I realized that I absolutely DID NOT wa

One of my professors in nursing school who studied/did research in addiction was very adamant that nicotene is the worst addiction to overcome out there. The sucky part is that we have rehab/support groups for people who do coke/heroin/weed/alcohol, but we tell smokers to suck it up and get over it. Where's the sense in that????

I commented that a high priest told me that since I'm Native American, I have dark skin because I wasn't righteous or pure enough in the pre-existence. FUCK them all.

For me it was when my sister and I were sealed to my parents. My sister is eight years younger than me, and a really bitchy temple worker was especially rude to her. I didn't understand if the temple was supposed to be God's sacred place on earth, and Satan can't touch us in the temple how this temple worker could be so freaking mean to a 12 year old. Then seeing everyone in their temple garb

I do remember learning in a psych class at college that Utah has the highest consumption of prozac. I never understood why until the church brought out my PTSD from abuse early in my childhood and I had to go to counseling. Keep calm and pop those pills in!

I live near Mormon Mecca - Palmyra, NY and those ads on are on the TV and radio all.the.friggin.time. It's to show people that not all members aren't weirdos who carry their BOM around with them everywhere and say "flip!" and think that drinking root beer is bad ass. I've seen some commercials where there was a guy that was a harley guy - typical biker looking dude and it made me

Someone should tell them that Wendy's doesn't exactly adhere to the word of wisdom. But since there's no alcohol, tobacco, coffee or tea in the artery clogging, heart attack inducing food, I guess it's OK.
