Whenever someone in the church offends my mom, says or does something she views as wrong in anyway, she will exclaim, "and they are in the church!!" Like because they are in the church they should know better and do no wrong. I just want to go off whenever she says that, but just bite my tongue...or when she will have nothing to do with someone until she finds out they are mormon, then

So sorry to read this. You deserve those brandys. My mil and bil just went through brain cancer and lymphoma. Both were very sick from treatment. A portable sauna helped my mil during treatment and medicinal marijuana helped my bil. I hope nothing but the best for you and your family and hope that you can get some sleep. :(

I've heard the whole losing my testimony thing over and over from my mom.. I never had a testimony!! I was a kid and said what I thought I was supposed to say all those years, what I was programmed to say! She was also so concerned about me marrying a Catholic and tried so hard in the beginning to send the missionaries over. Some missionaries come to my door when I was newly married at her re

Took my girls to a Christian church down the street---wanted to show them that Sunday school at any other church is fun as well (they say that's why they want to go to mormon church). Dropped them off at their brightly decorated and cheerful kids'room and went to the chapel. Lo and Behold, I felt that happy peaceful feeling at times--- and remembered when I would go to church with my friends e

I just threw up in my mouth a little. I really hope my daughter has never been interviewed by anyone behind my back. I'm going to ask her, and if so all hell WILL break loose.

I appreciate those suggestions----been looking for some responses to give my 8 year old when and if gma ever starts in on her, although going on 3 or so weeks now with my girls not allowed to be alone with her and going pretty well so far. I needed some answers for her to be armed with though and I like those suggestions. Simple and to the point. :)

There is an understanding mormonism class this weekend at a non denominational church. Wondering if I should go, if it might enlighten me a little, or at least give me the opportunity to be around others that are going through the same thing. Anyone ever been to something like this and would it be worth it? Thanks in advance!

Gotta add, it was so great (insert sarcasm) to grow up ingrained with the fear of the end of the world just around the corner in my head. Is that how mormons are still raising their children? Sad.

I agree, nonmo...I can only speak from experience that having to try to reverse the brainwashing effects on my 8 year old, who I thought had been "innocently" attending church with her grandma since she was 5, is not an easy thing to deal with. The things coming out of her mouth are the exact words I've heard from my mom my whole life, shoved into her little sponge-like brain.

"and putting words in her mouth about how she feels about something" He told YOU to not put words in her mouth, but what does he think he's doing?? "we should keep her options open to anything so she can make the choice for herself" I'd say, "Great advice, I took it and gave her the option of doing this program or going to a movie..she picked the movie."

She was really enjoying it until she was about halfway done and asked where I got them, they are so beautiful and yummy! When I told her my hairdresser's partner made them she looked like she was going to throw up. I just can't believe that woman raised me.

I always wanted to please her, always was worried about upsetting her, said things just for the sake of thinking it was what I was supposed to say and to keep her happy---but thank goodness I did not fall into that one...thank goodness there was always that voice in my head that screamed, there is something wrong with this!!!

I was just thinking back when I was young about a few Wtf moments..... **When I was 11 my friend got killed riding a 3 wheeler. Her parents were JW and did not believe in blood transfusions. I was really confused and distraught and my mom brought the missionaries over. They told me not to worry, I could be baptized for her. Thank god that never happened!! **When I was 12 this 18 or 19 year old

My mom was just saying that about sleep overs, she was appalled that my sister let my 13 year old niece have a sleep over. This must be a new thing, I had sleep overs all the time growing up (thank god) So, you know what I did? My dd immediately had a sleep over at her best friend's house, then the next weekend we had both of their best friends over for a sleep over! Sleep overs for everyone! I
