I guess it depends if his beliefs or religion may have a negative effect on him acting as a leader. Can't say for sure.

I just can't beleive they stated anyone questioning it is the bigot. I don't understand why this culture skips around the questions.

There was a clip on CNN today of what looked like a college student asking romney about the bom and if he thought it was wrong for whites and blacks to marry. Romney said he wouldn’t be answering questions. What made this worse was a CNN associate called anyone wanting to question romney's religion a religious bigot. I find that ridiculous. People need to know the beliefs of the man that could

I need some help. I am writing a personal paper in my Human Sexuality class at school. The paper is to tell my personal views on sex based on our “worldview” (religion, spirituality, philosophy, etc) and then compare the differences between the two. I need to discuss personal experiences and influences from growing up in this religion. Now being an ex-Mormon and growing up in a TBM family, wh

I am sorry for your situation with your parents. Your story sounds exactly like what going through I was in the same position my freshman year. My family went to Utah and I ended up going there. I honestly regret it. I am now a Junior in college. I am still having problems with Christmas with my tbm family. I chose to isolate myself from them because of the toxic environment it was. I have the su

I understand the reasoning of dropping me and that isn't my concern. I am independent of everything else and can get my own insurance if I need to. The only reason I haven't is they asked me not to because the was no point and it did not cost them anything. I have no problem with them dropping me from the insurance. The part that continues to bother me is they use whatever they can to be manipula

I believe it was to be taken as more of a joke than actual advice to say to my parents in the situation. There is a difference in heartfelt advice and just trying to lighten the mood of the situation. Thank you for the post Leah it made me laugh which helps tremendously.

Well some of the things have been that I am choosing to go to hell. They have called my fiancee basically a whore. They have told me over and over that I can't do it that they have tried working and going to school and it wont happen. My mother has told me she worked and was in a apartment in college and couldn't do it so I am just setting up myself for failure. All through high school I was told

Thanks for the replies so far. Sorry for some missunderstanding. I have had contact with my sister she is only 15 and i try to talk to her with leaving my parents out of the situation. The reason I have chosen to ignore my parents while I am in college is because of the abuse verbally and emotionally. I have tried to set boundries over and over and they only last for a small time before they are

I've been having problems with my tbm family. I have not seen them in almost a year. I am in college and chose to keep them out of my life right now because of the toxic environment. This past week I told them I did not feel it was appropriate nor was I comfortable with coming over for Christmas. I just received a email today from my father and I am just trying to get an idea of how to respond.

I am 20, I left the church at 18 and don't regret it at all. You will make new friends trust me. Once you know the truth you cant go back. I know its hard but it is worth it.There are so many people, don't tie yourself down with only interacting with church members its not worth it. When you can go away to school that will help you make plenty of friends. The Mormon population is only .002 someth

I watched a documentary called " prop 8 the mormon proposition" it was very touching and emotional, my girlfriend was crying by the end of it. It shows very detailed involvement of the church in prop 8. Its a bit forceful against the church so I don't know if it would be to opinionated for what you are looking for. I highly recommend it . I was able to watch it on netflix.

The university I'm at ( midwest ) they allow the chalk and encourage it to get students involved. They even have graffiti walls that they paint white every week so students can paint new stuff that is happening on campus every week. I haven't seen any mormon stuff but some other school ministries have.

Yeah its weird to hear about the ceremonies and know my family participated in them. Growing up as a kid it doesn't seem weird with the church. I guess I thought there was enough wrong without the ceremonies to leave. If I didn't leave now I'm sure I would of after experiencing that in the temple.

I left the church with my formal letter not to long ago. I'm only 20 and left from a tbm family. I left before the convants and endowments. The only thing I did in the temple was the baptisms for the dead as a youth. With the temple ceremonies being so secret I don't know exactly what certain topics are about. I wanted to know if anyone had links or information that I could read so I could get a

I think its just proof the more they push the media campaign of theirs the more mormons and non mormons are being informed of the truth and facts and not the church's bs.

Yes unfortunately my entire family is consumed by that church. They honestly know little about their own son because they were more involved with their church callings and what they needed to do for church than anything to do with their own kids outside of church.
