We've been married for 20+ years. I was off my mission a few months and she was out of high school a few weeks. We dated before the mission and it kind of "worked out" afterward so we were married. Tons of pressure from the Bishop, families, etc. You know the drill. We started a family within a year. I worked two jobs to make ends meet and never finished college. She was a stay-a

Thie took place in southern Oregon and the funeral director handled the situation just as he should have. When he called me and told me the Bishop's name I can't say that I was suprised. He's always been a pushy, pompous ass. He'd be the guy that would kill in the name of the lord if Monson commanded it.

A former member of the church passed away last week and he left specific instructions that he was not to have an LDS funeral nor was there to be anyone from the church involved in his service. His ex-mo wife arranged to have the funeral at the local funeral home and his obituary was printed in the local paper with the day and time of his funeral listed. His wife made sure the funeral director

I'm a relative to a member of the 70. He has spoken in General Conference many times and is personal friends, as in vacationing together and "hanging with", Thomas S. Monson. I attended a family event a few years ago and shook hands with TSM, Gene R. Cook, Eyring, Packer, and Faust. When Faust came to our Stake Conference I was assigned to be his personal security assistant and fol

Get up on Fast Sunday and bear your non-testimony. Be brief and cover 4 to 5 points of controversial doctrinal beliefs. You can add to the drama by saying you had a vision while you were having a moment of self abuse that confirmed that Monson is a fallen prophet. That should do the trick.

It's too bad that God had to make his children pray to him and ask him to make it rain before he would do anything. God: "I think I'll send an arsonist to Colorado Springs, make him start a big-ass fire that burns down hundreds of homes and ruins people's lives, make the fire kill two people, and then wait for my children to pray to me before I send some rain to help. Yeah. That's wha

>> First of all, we have to study the Book of Mormon diligently, applying its principles to our own lives and doing our best to understand the lessons that God wants us to learn. This is new. Is used to be simpler: ready and pray. There was never "applying its principles". Brainwashing and manipulation at its finest.

Yea. That 29-year old Bishop's counselor with the Prozac induced wife and their 5 kids. He served a Spanish speaking mission and they were married 6 months after he returned home. He is the popular guy in the Ward and is always there for a laugh. He's the first person there on moving day and the last one to leave the church after Mutual. He's also the guy with shady business practices who i

Resigned 8 years ago today. Took 5 of us out. My sister and her 4 kids left 1 year later. According to my best estimates the church is out $30k a year in tithing- mostly from her.

8 years ago my wife, kids, and I resigned from the church. As a result we were dis-owned by my parents, shunned by our friends, ignored by our families, removed from wills, lost business, and had to move a thousand miles to restart our lives and give ourselves a breath of fresh air. We wouldn't change it for anything. And it all started with stumbling across RFM in 1999. What a ride.

Hey Baura, Would it concern you that a company wouldn't hire you because of an oath you made in the temple? Of if a guy/girl didn't date you because you swore an promise to obey your church first? It doesn't bother me in the least because there is no way Mittens would take a call from Monson and as a result do exactly Monson asks. Mittens would be skewered in the press and it would kill

I was up in Windsor today and watched the smoke from the Estes Park fire merge with the smoke from the big one outside of Ft Collins. What a sight! One of our friends lives in Woodland Park and had to evacuate. Another lives in Estes Park and the fire there burned within 300 feet of their home. It's been a scary day.

It started when I was on a youth temple trip to Oakland, California. We were in the waiting room/chapel and I was bored so I went behind the counter and into the small office and picked up the phone book. I wanted to see how many LDS churches I could find. When I opened the Yellow Pages and started searching I ran across the Church of Satan in the listings and I showed it to my Deacon's Adviso

When I visit my sister she uses the words "Mother Freaker" or "Mother Freaking" when she talks to me. "That mother freaker in Wal-Mart had 21 items in the 20 item line." "Why in the mother freaking world would you do something like that?" "Holy mother freaker, that must've hurt." As she is taking my apostasy the hardest of my sibling

In the Stake I grew up in there has not been one Ward addition since 1980. Their unit count in 1980 was 9 units and it is down to 6 today. And in the last Stake we lived in they have gone from 6 units to 5 despite the population growth in the Stake boundaries up almost 40,000 people since the Stake was created. My last Ward has an average attendance of 110 people each Sunday. When I was in th

I had a couple of hours to kill this afternoon and decided to get a quick 9 holes in. When I checked in at the golf course I was paired up with a twosome that was already on the first teebox so I had to hurry over and join them so we didn't get in our proper introductions until the 4th hole during a slow down. Both guys were wearing knee length shorts and light colored golf shirts and it was

I am a private pilot(20+ years) and survived a forced landing in a farmer's field on my last flight. I have performed the Heimlich Maneuver on 3 people which saved their lives. I rescued an ice fisherman who had fallen through the ice. I crawled 200 feet across the ice, on my stomach for the last 50 feet, and threw him a rope that I happened to have in my backpack. I pulled him out just

Tell him the truth. That your shelf collapsed and that you are no longer a believer. And that you're sorry if you've hurt him be telling him but that you need to be true to yourself. You never know what will happen.

You need to find one that talks about JS joining the Methodist Church in 1828/1826. For a guy who spoke with God and was told the other churches were abominations, he sure forgot in a hurry.

Does a BJ count? If so, then I broke a rule. And does a 2nd BJ count? Then I broke another one. I guess I broke 5-6 rules in one area with a neighbor girl. And I was an AP at the time. So much for discernment, eh Pres?

From personal experience: 1. She married a priesthood-holding, active tithe-paying, member. Now she is married to an athiest, non-believer. Consider her point of view and how her world may be turned upside down. 2. Your son is 5 years old. 5. Five. F-i-V-E. He's not 18 and able to make informed decisions by himself. Every little boy and girl considers church boring at sometime or the

There is a current General Authority whose son drowned on a rafting trip in Mexico. When they pulled the young man's body from the river the General Authority laid his hands on the head of his son and commanded him, in the name of Jesus Christ, to arise. Needless to say, it didn't work. CPR was performed for 2 hours until an ambulance arrived and declared the young man deceased. Over the cour

School is out for the summer which means that her 16-year old mind has time to wander. Today, she greeted me as I walked in from work with her own first lines to Primary songs that she last sang 9 years ago. Enjoy. "The Prophet said to plant a garden- dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb." "Follow the Prophet, follow the prophet, follow the prophet- He's a closet gay." She thi

They can observe the "ring ceremony" after the temple wedding. Basically, the bride and groom come out of the temple and exchange wedding rings in the parking lot or sidewalk outside. That's the only way. If you don't have a recommend you don't go inside.

I was at a soccer game this evening sitting next to a social Mormon whose daughter plays on one of the teams. Social Mormon guy is known to enjoy a beer after games with the parents, he swears when his wife isn't around, and he is a pretty cool guy. The local Ward's Bishop's Counselor has a daughter on the opposite team and during halftime he came over to greet the guy. Social Mormon guy was

I took my wife to Phantom of the Opera a many years ago. On a Sunday, no less. After the performance we went out for ice cream and, on a whim, ended up getting a hotel downtown (this was before we had kids) and called in sick to work the next day. It was wonderful. When we mentioned the play to our LDS friends later on in the week they were concerned with two issues: 1- We went on a Sun

Thank you all for the suggestions. After consideration here's what I did and the result thereof. I sent the girlfriend a very detailed email about what is happening and why. I told her that the church sees every non-member as a prospective convert and that until she puts her foot down the attention and harassment will continue. I also sent her a link to Richard Packham's website. I took
