I know she won't be convinced and thinks the church didn't influence her to stay home even though she hated it and eventually went back to work. She barely participates at church but believes it's true and doesn't have a choice but to go. Anyone have the links to any other choice stories like the one in the Friend where Hannah won't wear a dress because it doesn't have sleeves?

Ok, my TBM MIL doesn't believe that YM lessons are geared towards getting married, having babies, and forget about that education. I know, she is in deep, deep, denial. Mostly because she doesn't want to admit she had 5 kids she didn't want instead of maybe 1 and a high powered career and her own daughter gave the finger to the church at 16. Can you give me the links to these "inspired&quo

It's run by Orrin Woodward. It doesn't seem to have a mormon connection but to me it sounds like a MLM. Anyone know anything about this "program?"

If they did the surgery in WY he would of still been a missionary and therefore the church is responsible for paying. If they got him home and released him before surgery, the family is responsible. LDS,Inc does not want to pay medical bills. They are responsible for keeping a mall running! I hope it will be made public if the heart attack had anything to do with the up coming surgery and theref

If the bishop is marrying them, then he is giving his "blessing" whereas if he said he wouldn't do it until they knew each other longer, it might make them stop and think. Of course, they could still get married, but if they are so concerned about following TSCC rules then having the bishop telling them to wait could get through to them. Of course, the bishop is probably more concerned

If the bride is taking out her endowments within a week of her wedding, and the groom is there, he will be the one to "pull her through the veil" into the celestial room, and by doing that, will learn her secret name. If the bride has already been endowed, like for a mission or just earlier or the groom couldn't be there right before the wedding when she went through, they take the coup

There was a black bishop in San Francisco a few years ago. I'm sure the Genesis group in SLC has a black bishop.

I wonder if this is just what we referred to as "wet" canneries, the ones that it fruit, jam, etc. Our was always dry goods like rice, wheat, onions, carrots, pasta. Nothing has changed at those canneries in a long time.

Wow! Thanks for posting. It will be interesting to see what happens as time goes on. Your son has got to be thinking, at least unconsiously, that things may not be as "true" as the church wants him to believe. I have been following your story (and sithlords) and just want to thank you so much for telling you story. Because of you, I had hope that my DH would come around and figure ou

Nothing he says is going to convince me and nothing I say is going to convince him, so I don't even want to bother. He'll still go on with his "I'm righteous and following the Lord's plan" attitude and I'll just keep rolling my eyes.

My DH and I posted in favor of marriage equality on FB. An uber TBM relative sent us the following. I don't know if he wrote it or not. Sorry it's long. AN APPEAL TO REASON The entire homosexual/heterosexual, “gay marriage” versus only a man and a woman issue carries a lot of emotional baggage. Some are repulsed at the concept of same sex couples, while others appeal to their own exp

Dear Sister Beck, That is one of the the stupidest things I've ever heard. And from what I've seen IRL, wards pick and choose which families they help out and which ones they could care less about. Heaven forbid we teach personal responsibility and family planning. My parents were teachers and wanted 4 children. They realized they would constantly be poor and not able to provide the opportunitie
