The broader point about Utah being more in tune with recognisably traditional Republican values rather than Trumpian populism, is accurate. But representing Joseph Smith as a 'visionary'is hardly credible. And as for 'more enlightened church hierarchies'...I need to lie down in a dark room.

There certainly are a lot of first visions available (9 separate accounts at a minimum) But Joe had a lot on his mind. Consistency was never his strong point.

According to Brother Joe'...The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's...' So how do the brethren explain '...The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation...'(Colossians 1:15) And didn't Joe see two distinct personnages in the Sacred Grove? (OK he was always a little sketchy on the details)

I'll settle for the Telestial Kingdom as long as they serve coffee. At least, Brother Joseph and Brother Brigham will be absent.

Spare a thought for the kids who have merely had to tolerate a Zoom SM over the past year. Imagine how they are going to feel when they are back in the meetinghouse. Off-topic I joined a Zoom SM last Sunday. One of the older members of the ward had tuned in, had muted the sound but not the camera. She had a great time during the meeting... watching TV. I guess she will be taken to task by the min

The missionaries around here seem to be permanently resident on social media. Big Facebook operation-the BOM definitely being downplayed and Joe Smith is conspicuous by his absence. It's all about Jesus now. When they're not online, I guess it's the usual yardwork and harrasing inactive members. Last time they came harrasing me, they wanted to talk about temples, I wanted to talk the Book of Abra

L.Ron Hubbard's 'Dianetics' books are even more incomprehensible than Joseph's 'marvelous work and a wonder'In Hubbard's defense/favor, at least he didn't argue that the garden of Eden was in Jackson County, Missouri.

Holland forgot to mention William Smith, the rebellious and 'insubordinate' younger brother. William knew what was going on. Pity he didn't speak out.
