Yeah, when they did the entire 'a valid testimony consists of these 3 points (BoM, JS and the church being true) I was all but what about Christ? Shouldn't any testimony be founded on the person who paid for my sins, not his mortal mouth pieces?

Actually, it would be awesome to have you go thru your list of items to check out regarding church history that you share from time to time here. That would be a great conference talk!

Whenever I get an invite to meet with some member in the ward who wants to get together, they always ask me when I'm free. I always respond that I'm free on Sunday and list the hours when the local ward is meeting that year. It turned off most of those requests but only one guy responded that he thought that was hillarious and we did do lunch a few times until he figured out I wasn't coming b

What if there is no body left? Been a few people who have been vaporized in blasts like the atom bomb drops of WW2 fame. I've heard of people in combat who get killed in such a fast and violent manner that there is nothing left but a blot in the sky where they were or where they were standing. If we are using the same matter as those who went before us, then our bodies are really just a vess

1) Being my true authentic self 2) Discovering life 3) Freedom from anything religious 4) Being able to speak my mind 5) Time to actually develop myself - learning new skills. I picked up C++ from reading books on it. 6) Time to read books again 7) Making up for all the NFL games I missed - now I get to catch entire seasons for the Bears live on TV. 8) Laughing at the silly stuff I used t

Yeah, I hated the split but the change did allow them to build less chapels cause with the 3 hour block, it was easier to share a single building with 2-3 other wards. It is after all about the money savings they got after all :)

To be honest, my first response would be to watch the Bears home opener... But I hear ya about the good intentions you wish for all of us. John Lenin's masterpiece "Imagine" says it best for what I wish for all of us for 9/11.

Yeah, it's a LDS education fund for worthy LDS youth to use to pay for college educations. It doesn't help children, it's a free money pool LDS bishops can request for those in their wards/branches that are 'worthy' returned missionaries who need financial assistance in getting an education.

If you were to see a woman showing garments here, she would attract a lot of weird ass looks. My TBM wife NEVER goes running or biking in her g's - she always changes to normal (granny-pannies) and a sports bra. She knows it would stand out way too badly if she didn't.

I've had told my wife that if they were going to excommunicate me, I would gladly show up to the court of love with a tub of popcorn to cheer them on and watch the proceedings. At the end, when they annouce the decision that I was excommunicated, I would pull out a beer and toast the decision and chug it down. Kind of makes we want to go back just to try to setup that scene... wait...nothi

Reading the various versions of the First Vision. It hit me that if God and Christ appeared to me, I sure as hell wouldn't confuse how many of them there was, who they were and when it happened. Bonus, the earliest version was in written by Smith himself. No scribe could have screwed up that one. It was clear as day to me after reading and comparing the details of the various versions tha

"The most correct of any book on earth..." How about the most edited book of any book ever published? "Sing a hymn elder!"...problem with that is that I always started singing "The Iron Rod"...hold to the rod! and my favorite, "if you leave the church, you will never be happy!"...oops, sorry for being happy each day I live my life free from the churc

I had a really good friend who shocked the hell out of me one day when he told me that he was sleeping with his wife's 15 year old NIECE for the past TWO years. But wait, it gets better, he worked with me in the office and TOLD everyone here about it and showed them her photos and annouced that he was getting a divorce, was quitting his job here and moved into a trailer in Montana parked at a ra

Everyone loves a winner, but add that he's a LDS winner and you've got the next 'we're normal and we're Mormon's' poster boy right there. But if he tanks in office, it will be attributed to evil liberals, corrupt members of the senate and house, etc. But hey, Glenn Beck is off doing rallies for courage in Israel and the church didn't back that then so who knows, they may just keep quiet abo
