the Mormon Church survived after all of the deceipt, fraud, etc of Joseph Smith. Well, it very well may not have except for the death of Joseph and then Brigham's subsequent ascension to the leadership. Brigham was a ruthless despot and isolated the people which gave him time to control them long enough to reach critical mass. For a great read on this you can download and read "Brigham Yo

that bears the question "Do smart Mormons make Mormonism true". I found the link here: http://bobmccue.ca/2012/01/01/do-smart-mormons-make-mormonism-true/ It's a good read!

After reading these stories I think that if my child (or anyone willing to listen) was adamant about going on a mission, I would help them get a duplicate passport (give the mission house the "lost" one) and have a pre-paid debit card (stashed with the valid passort in a safe secret place) that could be used in the event of an emergency to flee the country. Prevention is worth 10 lbs of

My favorite: We are thankful for family, friends, and this food prepared for us. May we use the strength we derive from it to do good. Amen. (or "peace-out" if that feels better) No particular salutation. Best, MF

**** SLAP-SLAP-SLAP... there now. In my experience it is good for the kiddos to see that both parents make a financial contribution to the family. Also, what will you do if something happens to your husband? Its smart to keep your skills and contacts sharp. lastly, your kids will survive and probably thrive with a new and/or alternate atmosphere for a day... or more. Also, this will he

Having personally escaped from that world, I can say with certitude that polygamy is one of the most blatant systems of woman objectification that exists on the earth today. Regardless of the "group" to which one belongs. It is inherently abusive on its face. I have never seen any situation where children would be OK to see it normalized. And I have seen thousands. It doesn't matter

Do not use cooking wine. They make that out of the "undrinkable" leftovers... This could help you... http://www.foodnetwork.com/videos/all-about-cooking-with-wine/17453.html

I like to just say "hmmm, thats an interesting viewpoint" and move on.... That way I have acknowledged them and given them respect as a fellow human being, without buying into their system of interaction, which is point/counterpoint. I come from a natural inclination to fall into the point/counterpoint method of interaction, and have found it to be quite a waste of time and energy

So, I know that it is widely held by Mormons that Jesus' birthday is on April 6th BUT; Where did that teaching originate? I have had a long standing curiosity to find the source of that thinking and I have been unable to find anything.... any help out there?

They call themselves "Fundamentalist Mormons" which is a very broad category including all of the polygamous Mormon offshoots. FLDS and AUB are specific organizations within that category. I was just trying to clear up any confusion on that. If its of any consequence they all tie their supposed "authority" to John Taylor's time, when a supposed meeting took place between

They are or at least were members of AUB (rumor is that they were asked to stop attending. I dont know if that is true). Equally absurd in their doctrines but worlds apart in their practices...

I agree that brainwashing is always bad. The answer, in my opinion, is to teach HOW to learn - not WHAT to learn. Then back that up with real facts/stories. If we teach children how to develop the techniques of learning then they will become lifelong students. If we teach them what they need to know they will think they know it all and/or simply rely on their role models for instruction.

the systematic defense of a position. Which is the correct term for these loons. This was the original meaning. It has been "hi-jacked" in modern times to mean remorse, which is really a re-interpretation from its original meaning of "defense".

YOUR WHOLE LIFE. Its like a marriage. Would you marry someone who you met 3 months ago? I wouldn't! If it were true now it will still be true a year from now. Give it at least a full year of intensive study before you make a life altering commitment! Best, Mormer

You are missing the whole point here.... Restricting admission has nothing to do with being a mormon or non-mormon. The whole point of the temple is as a "control mechanism" for the actual members. The "earning of a recommend" ensures the morg of their revenues(tithing), time commitments(free labor), mind control(striving to "raise the bar"), ad nauseum. It has a

It was said that the reason I left Mormonism is because I read too much.... lol here is a story that illustrates the "thinking" "It started out innocently enough. I began to think at parties now and then to loosen up. Inevitably, though, one thought led to another, and soon I was more than just a social thinker. 'I began to think alone - "to relax," I told mysel
