As soon as you have cameras, you have your crime: breaking in *is* a crime. If you can then show intent to commit a crime like vandalism, it gets worse. Costco has some nice sets with lots of cameras. Ebay/Amazon can get you some decent single-camera set ups that handle all the recording themselves and can even see in the dark.
