I think with all drugs we have a tendency to think if a little bit is good a lot will be better. My experience with caffiene is that a little is good and makes me feel more optimistic and active, a lot burns me out by the end of the day, and for the next day too.

Creator here means God, and cannot be taken to represent some disinterested force behind the workings of the universe. Blessings refer specifically to gifts given from a personal interested and moral Deity and cannot be taken to mean good things that have come to us by chance. Thank you for clearing that up for the founding fathers who somehow failed to put all of that into words for us.

Because a group that tells you your only hope is to turn yourself over to a higher power and stick to their program is less bullshit than pills that decrease the reaction to alcohol in the reward center of the brain?

Using contraception. Taking the pill. Carrying a condom. All of these things would be seen as putting yourself in temptation. They would mean that the sex was pre-meditated. By definition as a Mormon you can't have smart sex. You can only have stupid sex.

I don't get the problem with tattoos. They seem fine to me. I'm not familiar with the term "nappy headed" but it seems like it sometimes implies disordered tight curly hair? If so it is a comment in bad taste or poor judgment. On the other hand telling someone they are a Mormon or like a Mormon is lame. I'd say talk about the problem. Don't try to make the person look bad by associa

In spite of comforting words the Mormon church still sees mental illness as a failure of the will.

I like the phrase from the gospels something like: they lay burdens on others that they wouldn't touch with their little fingers. That was probably not only a year of tithing, but likely a year of income for some of the poorest members.

Excellent. Those feelings are really familiar to me. Walking by houses, wondering if the people inside are sad too.

If our own identity and happiness are too tied up in another person, even if we love that person and mean well, we end up hurting them, because we their expression of their own identity. Joseph's Myth makes parents feel like they are bad people if they don't tie their identity and happiness to their children. My best thoughts are going out to you. The church holds our parents happiness hostag

The Spirit of Fraud like a fire is burning, The con-men in glory begin to spew forth Divisions and bigotry and hatred and spurning. We're spreading the fire to the ends of the earth. Well scream and will shout in the throes of narcissistic glory, We're Holy! We're Holy! the caravan moves on! And glory to us. We know the true story Henceforth and forever we'll follow the con.

The church here is a little like Dostoevsky's Grand Inquisitor. They won't let freedom and integrity get in the way of maintaining a church. It's infuriating that they think people can't manage their own lives.

This brings back all of those feelings of guilt for not sharing the gospel, warring against a desire to just respect people's lives and leave them alone.

I like the word "spirituality" to describe feelings that I get when looking at art, or nature; when reading great literature; or just feeling connected to the world and people around me. But not as a name for a magical essence that fills the Universe or survives death. I think of it more as a holistic way of thinking about the good we come across in this little life. "Rel

When I confessed my sins the stake president and high counsel and secretary found out. Which I expected. But then my bishop was released and they put my father in as the bishop. My wife asked him if he knew. He said he had read the file. Apparently there is a file. That pissed me off. I hate this stupid lie. Sunday School teachers will be told if you are excommunicated or unworthy to say praye

In the first place, Bednar is saying don't define yourself by your sexuality. That seems dishonest to me because in the LDS Church your sexuality does define you. Marriage and children are the basis of Celestial life. All he is doing is reiterating that homosexuality is not valid in the eyes of the church. He is saying: "You might not be able to prevent homosexual feelings, but that doe
