What part of Colorado? I was a missionary in the Colorado Springs mission and I definitely noticed what you're talking about with the class divisions.

This sort of thing definitely was a weight on my shelf. I'm not sure if I remember the same story you're talking about, but when I was a senior in high school, in the seminary council, a story broke about finding very old human remains in Montana. While I at first I played the limited geography model card in my mind, my seminary teacher brought it up and talked about how we just needed to exerc

I'm currently taking a "Communication - Thinking and Listening Critically" course at a public university in Utah. Today we talked about six common habits that get in the way of critical thinking: 1. The "Mine is Better" attitude 2. Face-Saving 3. Resistance to Change 4. Conformity 5. Stereotyping 6. Self-Deception As we discussed each habit, life as a missionary occupi

There's a girl I really enjoy hanging out with and we work together several hours a night almost every weeknight. I've only recently befriended her and a couple of weeks ago found out she was Mormon. I do live in southern Utah, so it's pretty safe to assume any given stranger is Mormon, but I didn't expect she was because she said she was born and grew up outside of Utah, occasionally swears or

On my mission, we got in trouble because we secretly transported a two missionaries (one of whom was my previous companion) out of the zone 35 miles from Colorado Springs up to Castle Rock over the weekend so he could attend the baptism and confirmation of a convert he helped teach. The only reason the mission office found out was that my previous companion's name went on the convert's records a

I got a letter today from the mission office since it has now been six months off the mission field. Not knowing what it was at first, I actually hoped word had gotten to them that I had left the church, but it was just another boring form letter. The third paragraph was: "I hope you are still holding true to the commitments you made before leaving the mission field. Daily scripture st

Well, the TV is owned by the most brainwashed roommate and he freaked out when I watched The Man in the High Castle and God's least favorite word (the...EFF-WORD!) was used like three times within a half hour and he asked me not to use his TV to watch such obscene material. The roommate with which I share a bedroom likes to listen to gentle hymn/Primary song instrumentals and such while sleeping

Haha, no; if anything I internally felt "dishonorable" for my hypocrisy and knowingly living a lie. I was just using a common TBM colloquialism. One of the reasons I stayed was that, with the right companion(s) and district/zone leaders, I was able to make the mission a somewhat bearable and sometimes incredibly fun experience.

Hi everyone, I've been avidly observing the forum for like six months now. In the last year or so I've: - mentally rejected all Mormon teachings while in the middle of a full-time mission and returned with honor last July - started drinking coffee and tea - told my parents of my disbelief while visiting for Christmas which resulted in my mom crying and begging me to hold on to my testimony,
