I remember seeing that on SNL when it happened, as I was in high school at the time. Even though I was on the west coast, they didn't edit that out although the local NBC station easily could have.

Exactly. They've always been free to discriminate against coffee drinkers and other "sinners" when it comes to temple "sealings." For the most part, same-sex couples tend to have civil ceremonies anyway, unless they have it done at a Unitarian, Epsicopal, or other extremely liberal church.

My TBM ex even wished me a "happy Mother's Day" and it was shortly before we were married, so I thought that was weird. Still, that one Mother's Day in RS wasn't fun because the women kept saying how "blessed" they were that their mothers raised them in the church. The RS president did give a half-assed apology for those of us converts and tried to say it doesn't mean we had c

That's it, they're only requiring it so they can send missionaries to those countries that won't let anyone in who isn't vaccinated.

The Youtube channel Illuminaughtii has done one about Mormon women and how they fall for MLM's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtcGANV-KHg

I also heard the line that it was "to protect the widows" as men weren't just killed by "anti-Mormons," but died on the pioneer trek.

My fiancee got one of those scam calls, and he's never had an account on Amazon. That's what he told them as he hung up.

This is just about putting pressure on the locals to keep temple recommends so they stay in. I'm guessing the Yorba Linda, CA temple could be built next to the Nixon Library as much of the land in that area is built up. Putting it next to that place would attract the more politically conservative members to visit it instead of the Irvine/Newport Beach or Redlands temples.

Someone on there said that because she was so tall, she was accused by the RS president of rolling them up, so she lifted her skirt to show that they were in fact, too short for someone "built like a Barbie doll."

It really is like how Scientology builds a lot of buildings that sit empty, and the same will happen to these temples, or they'll keep the others not that far empty. At least, in Yorba Linda, they can see if there's land next to the Nixon Library. It's just going to make the Newport Beach and Redlands temples emptier than they probably are.

I think this shows how thinned skin many Mormons are about their cult, even though it's more likely the domestic terrorist was fundamentalist Protestant. Some fundies also share the belief that women are to blame for "temtping" men by showing a shoulder or kneecap.

I've unfollowed the worst offenders, including someone who bragged about "crying" while in the same room as Nelson.

This is going to cause a major freakout among Mormons especially, but one casualty of the pandemic is those Disneyland passports they buy. https://abc7.com/business/disneyland-resort-to-end-annual-passport-program/9662079/

No, since there are plenty of churches that don't consider having online services to be a sin at all.

No, since I don't know how clean the kitchen was that it was cooked in. Having a food handler's certification makes you even more paranoid about food safety. Also, my TBM ex had a tree nut allergy, with coconut actually being life threatening to him. There were times when I had to throw out cookies the RS left because they had walnuts and coconut in them.

So true, some of the worst offenders when it comes to younger people being so cavalier about Covid is someone I know who has conditions that put her at greater risk of death. I guess she just wants to be a martyr for Mormon motherhood so badly, she even went to Downtown Disney from Utah to see one of her in-laws become engaged over Thanksgiving weekend.

Only thing I've heard of is adding more sugary syrups to soda since even virgin cocktails are considered evil to Mormons.

Also in southern California, and even got the emergency alert about the modified lockdown. It hasn't really changed anything for me since I've been home since March, and not expected to return to work until January at the earliest. Since I can't do my job from home, I'll be among the first to return as everyone else will be working from home until most get the vaccine. I've been doing more of

The only thing that has become a tradition is that my dad makes a chocolate mousse that TBM's would be offended by as it has brandy and coffee in it. It has to be made the day before because it takes overnight to set in the fridge. The meal varies based on whatever my brother and SIL feel like cooking, as it's at their place.

So true! Rum and Coke is really nice. If marijuana is legal where you live, you can have certain candies or brownies.

I'm keeping my Thanksgiving and Christmas events much smaller, as it's better than having to attend funerals later. The sooner cases start to go down again, the sooner more of us can go back to work. If people stay home as much as possible, social distance and wear a mask when in public, this can get under control.

A cousin of mine and my aunt stayed away from a wedding of one of his cousins on my aunt's side of the family. Most of them flew from Chicago to Sedona, AZ for the wedding, and from what I've heard, several people contracted Covid from attending that wedding. Haven't heard if anyone died, but it wouldn't surprise me as some of those who made the trip were in the high risk group. These were pe

I maybe had 3 trick or treaters the entire evening, as most people where I live have taken this pandemic seriously by staying home this year. Trick or treating wasn't banned where I live, it just was "not recommended" by the health department.
