About two weeks ago while I was at church with the family, the bishop asked to speak with me. I agreed because I was already in the building I had nothing to lose, except for gospel doctrine class. I have known the man for quite some time and his son and I are friends. He started with the standard small talk over school, and the like, and eventually he moved on to my views about the church. I exp

Shout out to all of the atheists on the board. Hawking recently published a book accompanied by an editorial on the WSJ about how God is no longer needed as a benevolent creator. Anyway, one of my favorite points raised is how humans look to their environment as tailor made for them to live in when in fact it can be argued that we are tailor made for our environment. It is a simple argument that

Quite a few ways. I don't ever post my whole story just bits and pieces, as I will do now in a brief list of whatever comes to mind in the next five minutes. 1. Made me antisocial because nonmembers were not to be trusted. Along the same lines when I reached 12 it me feel sick to my stomach and guilty because I didn't share the gospel when the opportunity presented itself. I made the choice that

I don't know what changed in my life, but once upon a time I was miserable and it was all related to the church. After I realized that all religions are part of the same great hoaxes this sentiment continued for about four months. About a month and a half ago something just changed. I'm perfectly happy near 100 percent of the time. I hardly ever think about the church, and all the stupid things m

Colorado is the shit! Don't ever take the name of Colorado in vain or we will exile you to Colorado Jr. (Utah), or maybe even Utah Jr. (Idaho).

Bad argument over the Europe being safer than the US. Every country has good and bad areas, and Europe is very diverse. There are dangerous countries within Europe. Sure you can point to the western liberal democracies as safe, but still you have countries like Spain, Portugal, and Ireland which don't support your case.

My young inexperienced opinion is this. I am a young male complete with all the same desires are all other men. We all love the idea of getting around to be with other attractive women. I'm not married but have while in serious relationships often wondered what life would be like with a the cute girl that just walked by instead of with the gf. The question is what would the world be like if every

Agreed, pull him aside alone and let him know that he is the guest in your home. You want to be respected, and so you need to handle him in such a way that shows that you are the bigger man. Plus if he is the DW's family and is TBM they probably talk and unless you want your ass in the frying pan you probably better be polite because TBM family often sticks together.

I was in a similar position two years ago. I am the oldest male child in my family, and I grew up in a home where my parents leveraged every choice against me on the basis of religion and how I was to be the example that their other children could be proud of. A little about me. I am from Colorado and so being a member was the gateway to a life guided by both members and non-members alike. Eve

have the jacks that leave you alone 99% of the time, or the devoted that come knock on your door because they want you to come back?? Not to mention the fact that there is not really a mormon alive that lives all the rules and is not selective to some extent. Imagine if they actually were in 100% devoted to the church, how much worse would the world be if people joined religions and followed ever

hey some questions as I try to fall asleep. In the temple Adam meets with Peter, James, and John, why would they go by their earthly names before being born? Also, how could the angel Gabriel be Noah? Did Noah decide to give his old earthly name back? Wouldn't that also conflict with the baby blessings that happen on sundays where you are given a name to go by here on earth and in heaven? What ab

Yesterday was the 5th sunday lesson. For the adults and most likely for the youth the lesson was over public affairs and how to best represent the church and further the church agenda in your community. They talked about how to properly use the internet and start blogs to get people to see that mormons are normal people. I posted a thread on the lesson as it happened yesterday. I am sure it is ha

So I am sitting in church right now and the lesson is on public affairs. The church is now telling the members how to represent the church. The lesson has taught them to get involved in the community. They want people to invade the local systems to influence the agendas. They want people look for things reported incorrectly about the church and its history and then make attempts to correct them b

Saw Robin hood in theaters , traveled around the country on normal days, didn't wear garments, didn't wear the monkey suit, went to beaches, stayed out past curfew to chill, stayed on the computer for hours, slept the siesta, went out drinking, gave besos to girls, watched movies, drank the prohibited drink of mate. Oh and the biggest rule I broke was to have an enjoyable time in miserable circu
