The steeple in the middle of the roof is so completely off scale for the rest of the building, but there was one on the original builing--which had to be removed, because the roof couldn't support the weight. It was such a beautiful old building, lovely old brick and stone. Sigh.

I thank god nearly every day that I don't have kids. We could have had them when we married--we were certainly pressured to do so--but I didn't think we were stable enough to do it.
