some of them were even true. But unAmerican? What a laugh! I absolutely LOVE the argument that America is all about allowing people to be in any religion without any negative comments.

I think it's called the Joseph Smith fanpage. Yeah, it was kind of boring, but I'm a bit obsessive so I just had to respond to it.

No. I wouldn't worship the type of mysogynistic, racist, cruel and psychopathic being depicted by the Torah, the Bible, the Qu'ran or the Book of Mormon.

It would only count if Elohim signed it Himself -- otherwise it's simply not a legally binding contract.

Rebecca Loos ‎"You claim that you didn't demand respect. You may not have said it in so many words, but you did in FACT demand respect. You expect us to respect what you THINK about our Church and its history, and yet you refuse to show respect." I do? "Y...ou can't handle the truth. Because that would make you wrong about things and that's just something you can't stand. A

Quite frankly Rebecca, you wouldn't know truth if it hit you in the head. You didn't come here for truth, you only came here to fight. Argue all you want, you know I'm right. You only want what makes you happy. Which in this case, is inciti...ng an argument so that you can "prove" you're right. You have no proof of any of what you write. I could just as easily go around and start saying

This sounds like it will be QUITE entertaining. By the way, can you corrupt straight women into lesbianism? 'Cause I'm heterosexual but don't trust men, so I was thinking that if I could get over my opposite sex attraction I might just have a shot at a relationship. ;)

It's got more to do with the amount of control the religion/culture/regime placed on them, I think. They are unprepared to make their own decisions and often convinced that they are damned simply because they've lost the one true way/faith/state/whatever.

And I was just a nerdy 16 year old girl at the time. Even then I had enough self respect to know that a loving God doesn't create sentient "wombs".

If you actually encounter this supreme being, even then there would be doubts. What if this supreme being is merely a very advanced life form and not a God at all? So there is know way to KNOW.

Well, that lets you out from my areas too. Darn. Warshingtionian here -- but not by you I guess. :( Still, Washington should be a decent place to find some nice friends of little to no religious persuasion. :)

Sometimes it's popcorn (made on the stove in a pot, not some microwaveable bag) and salted until my lips pucker. Sometimes it's Doritos and cottage cheese (mmm, I love that one). Sometimes it's salty, chocolatey, nutty treats like a snickers bar or BeenThere's chocolate covered pretzles. (I only make those for Christmas goodie bags, though. Too much work.)

I think ensuring the child receives a decent education trumps the feelings of the parent. I would call a school in your area and ask the staff there if there are any agencies you could report your concerns to. I can't find anything online about who would handle what. Topper, I pulled my son out in the 8th grade because of bullying. My son's education from that point on was very self direct

I'm sorry that your family is so damaged that they can't be a real family. I think simply ignoring them is definitely the way to go. Since you haven't "engaged" then there isn't a ton of baggage in the way if one or more actually wakes up to the abuse they are living with. I hope you've changed your phone number and kept it from them too. Or at least blocked their numbers! No one deserv

I think it was intended as a comment about the author's feelings that most people would consider what the woman saw to be torture but it was not necessarily claiming that it WAS torture. Since no one who actually knows what the woman saw has told the whole truth, there is no way to know for sure. However what the other woman described absolutely sounded like torture to me. I have a small burn on

I imagine your wife simply can't get her mind around the fact that one of God's "chosen" could possibly be a sexual predator. Does she know what he did when you were a home teacher? If not, could you tell her? I think it's important that she's on the same page as you about protecting your son, otherwise she might go behind your back and expose your son to something neither of you want f

An Appeal to Popularity (everyone does it) means nothing. If what "everyone" does is wrong, then it's wrong. And coming here to express your pain (generic "you" here btw) is a healthy way of dealing with that rejection. Instead of being told, in essence, to "suck it up" because "everyone does it" a little support and empathy might be in order. Yes, human

if you can get an attorney to lend you his name write a letter to be sent to the Bishop, Stake President and SLC bigwigs stating that any further contact will be met with legal repercussions AND media contact. And I would state in the letter your concerns about the Exec Sec's character as well. I don't think it would cost too much if you type the letter yourself ahead of time -- but I could be wr

It's slightly off topic on parenting but basically a Utah lawyer and a Utah couple essentially kidnapped a baby from Virginia -- breaking several laws in Virginia in the process and claiming it was okay because a Utah lawyer said they were adopting the baby. Granted, the mother filled out adoption paperwork (the day after the baby was born, which is ALSO a violation of Virginia law -- mom's have

I watched the video link about this show (Mormon couple took in two troubled British teens) and I wanted to comment (but the board was down - sob, sob). So, my impressions. 1) Mom's comment that she homeschools so her children won't be "confused" by which "right" is correct was a gagger. Of course I, as a fanatical Christian, specifically chose public schools for my chil
