Yep, friend's slacker 16 year old son has a newfound fondness for engineering. His grades are average and yet he spends so much time practicing in the jazz band which is stupid. The jazz band won't give him a scholarship and a career. (Extra-curricular activities should come second.) But, his two sisters don't really know what they want to do. One moved to Idaho to be a paramedic (I'm sure she

I know all about that. My mormon friend thinks mormons have a monopoly on morals. Do you want to know how he explains away my siblings and I doing better in school than his children? "Your parents are extremely smart. It's something genetic." LOL. (And, no, I don't do the comparing, he does. And he ALWAYS comes up short.)

* You support Romney and his tax policies * Your daughter and son-in-law are having kids with no firm financial footing or educational achievements, both killers of upward mobility * You encouraged your second youngest daughter to take out loans to go to paramedic's school in Idaho when there are tons more in Florida *Your jaw-dropping reaction to hearing that my mother has a PhD is cond

Stopped after the first line. I'm sure "All-American lads" doesn't refer to people of color. The irony is is that mormonism was never accepted by most Americans. Mormonism had to flee out West to evade the American government which wanted to shut down its operations. That's hardly "All-American."

So, my mormon friend's daughter was married two years ago and had a child soon thereafter. His daughter dropped out of college to have the child (Funny yet sad in itself. Why not get another semester under her belt before having the baby). My gay mormon's wife (more like beard) is still getting on her son-in-law's case for having a minimum wage job and no education (She has no job and no educatio

Funny how a co-worker of ours is 'trashy' because he lives with his girlfriend, but today is a family man because he has dinner every Wednesday with his family at 7PM. Come to find out, he demanded his daughter do the same even with her husband. They haven't been to the family dinners (surprise surprise) lately. I asked him why would you mandate a time to have a family get together? A manda

I posted yesterday how I have to explain to my mormon "friend" why MLK is a holiday. I was born in the 80's when he went through the Arizona/MLK Holiday controversy. He should be telling me a thing or two, not the reverse, about why MLK Day is a holiday. *shakes head* A lot of mormons seem to really have a problem with blacks. They need to get over it. Plus, blacks are more accept

Hello All! I'm back and need to vent. My mormon coworker (gay, closeted, married, etc.) is finally admitting that he likes Romney only because he's mormon. He then said that he doesn't follow politics closely (a lie) and that mormons aren't perfect (to explain away his nonchalance at Romney's two-faces). If my coworker wasn't so into politics, why were his feelings hurt so bad when McCain b

I've been his shoulder every day. He was writing every day during his father's ordeal in Utah. He answered every e-mail, including trivial e-mails. I'm not going to ask again about what his father's church did. I was just curious to know if this was against some rule to discuss with an "outsider." newcomer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > My mormon

My mormon friend's father died and he has given me every detail about the funeral arrangements and all the things his co-workers have done for him to help him get through these times (I gave him $100 to use towards an airline ticket). So, I asked him what has his church done for him and he has yet to respond (by e-mail) and we're getting to a week later. He has responded to every other e-mail

Oh and he thought that all the Mormon opposition to Prop 8 was homegrown - rooted in ONLY California. When I told him that it started in Utah, he wouldn't have any of it.

Just a little background info. I'm a straight and liberal young man friends with an active GAY barely-making-it conservative Mormon who moans about government intrusion (yet he's for banning gay marriage through a constitutional amendment). He was crying when the last prophet died. Literally in tears one morning. I thought his dog died. Well, what really took the cake for me was his comple

Have they apologized for bringing you in the cult in the first place? Shown remorse? I have a non-lethal, basically harmless genetic condition (too much iron in the blood) and my mom profusely apologized for passing the gene on as if she had a choice especially considering she didn't know she had it before I was tested. I'd rather have too much iron in my blood and getting a couple of liters o
