My family participated. It was a membership program like the South American baseball baptisms. The kid we had was baptized so he could get in the program. The promised the Indian families that they would provide education, a better life and advantages that the kids would never otherwise have. It was promoted among members as a duty to help Mormon children who were starving and had no options.

The History channel is owned by A&E Television Networks. A&E is a joint venture of the Hearst Corporation (37.5% ownership), The Walt Disney Company (37.5%), and NBC Universal (25%). The network is a result of a merger in 1984 between Hearst/ABC's Alpha Repertory Television Service (ARTS) and (pre-General Electric merger) RCA-owned The Entertainment Channel.

I have read the Bible many times from cover to cover. Read the books I recommended on your other thread. The Bible is a phony as the Book of Mormon. Implying that I have not done due diligence in my decision is, in and of itself, "offensive."

Some Theists feel a need to push their particular brand of fairy tales on other people. For example, a provocative thread this morning had to do with "proving" the bible completely false or accepting it as true. This thread was written and posted to draw fire, which it did. Then the writer of the thread comes back in another thread, crying about Atheists not accepting Theistic views.

Based on verified archaeological finds, they reconstruct the history of the early Bible and show it did not happen in the time period or in the way claimed by the Bible. The c

Four years ago, after not having attended church at all where I was living (over 2 years), I got a letter which said I was responsible for cleaning the meetinghouse after parties and meetings during Christmas week. It further stated that if I could not fulfill the assignment, it was my responsibility to find someone or pay someone to do it for me. My resignation was sent the day after I got

A Corporate Sole is a nonprofit. Nonprofits do not have shareholders or owners, they have directors who govern the activities. No one "owns" a nonprofit. The unique thing about a Corporate Sole is that it has only one director. As the sole director, Monson could decide to pass all assets to himself, but they would then become taxable as they passed from the nonprofit to an individua

The Church of Satan was formed in 1966. It is unlikely that Mormonism copied the Church of Satan on anything. The inverted pentagram dates back to the Greeks, and was used in a number of ways. Eliphas Levi is credited with being the first to link it with the occult around 1840. It had been in use by the Freemasons for years, taking on two connotations. The inverted pentagram is a symbol for

What we DO know about the 1978 “Revelation” In 1969 Hugh B. Brown actively lobbied to allow blacks to receive the priesthood. This was supported by a majority of the apostles. They formed a “special committee was to report on the Negro situation”. The change was approved while Harold B. Lee was absent. Upon his return he rejected the decision and persuaded the quorum to rescind th
