Tell me the name of the document. Tell me where I can go see it. Show me the quote "we invented Jesus."

The ruling was in the Bob Jones case which had been working its way through the courts for a number of years. At some levels Bob Jones won. At other levels it didn't. Although Bob Jones was finally decided after the BSA dust up, its reasoning could well have been applied to the BSA tax exempt status had it allowed sponsors to discriminate on the basis of race. But the church didn't need a

NYTimes is real spotty on which articles they allow comments and which they don't. I've never been able to figure out their system.

I've certainly pushed this reason myself. I've come to think there were several reasons with this being the primary one. I think Benson has some post on this and since he saves them, perhaps he could repost.

Sometimes it takes people time to adjust to the news. Give Mom a little time. At some point if you think it is appropriate, you might give your mother the church's gay Mormon website. It says be nice to day people.

I would pretty much agree with that. There are techniques that help externalize a situation and help one work through it. Perhaps they are a bit antique.

Oh, I think psychic and the dark arts were exactly where JS was coming from although I would use different nomenclature. And JS would use still different nomenclature. And although I deny the metaphysics, I don't think it gets us anywhere to just call it bullpucky. Bring in the functional PET scan.

Oh, that's fine. But there are different meditation techniques and some work better for some people than for others. Some are less explored than others. I don't know the OP but maybe some day she/he will come to see it as technique. Maybe not. And as I said, I don't think she can see the future, but I would not blow it off as a meditation technique. Especially one that is less recognize

I don't think its superstitious bullpucky. While I don't think you see the future, I do think it can be a meditation technique that can be calming.

pessaries were available. withdrawal was a possibility pressure near the base of the penis to cause the ejaculate to go into the bladder. My guess is that everything mentioned in this thread could have been combined to reduce fertility among JS's sexual encounters.

I suffer from chronic recurrent depression. I'm sure its tough on my family members. What you are caught between is doing nothing on one hand and making her feel defective on the other. Be in contact with her, a lot, but you don't need to talk about her being depressed, in fact, you might even want to avoid the topic. When you make unsolicited suggestions, you make her feel like a chi

This was so pre-packaged I can't believe it. The local station went out and shot those temple exteriors world wide, not to mention an interior, a Sacrament Meeting and a miniature of the 2nd temple? Talk about a church PR effort.

Dr. Prof. Flake is a single woman, practicing Mormon, UofU law graduate who practiced in DC and then took a Ph.D in religion from the Univ. of Chicago, which is no shabby program. She snared the Vanderbilt position which was very competitive and then was chosen for the Mormon Chair at VA. She is the first woman to receive one of the growing number of Mormon Chairs. How TBM or NOMish she is I

The numbering of the Volumes is kind of screwy. There are 4 Volume ones. One each for Journals, Revelations & Translations, Histories and Documents. There are also various Volume 2's. Which ones burned, I don't know. Would be nice to have a news link. http://josephsmithpapers.org/ Scroll down on the right under "Available for Purchase."

I'd say I'm about 40% straight and 60% gay. (Maybe more than your wanted to know). And by the way I'm male. But I self identify as Gay not bi. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe because when I came out a long time ago bi was not really on the table. But Gay was deeply buried and unimaginably socially suppressed, especially by today's norms. Coming out for me was really confusi

I see a lot more missionaries. I've asked some of them how hold they are. Some say 18. A couple of really young looking ones said they were 20.

I was thinking of going the email route. I think some here have tried it. What happens after I send the email? Will it be forwarded to local bishop and will he try to contact me? I have no idea who he is and he'd have to get through about 3 security doors to knock on my door. The email form I found on the internet doesn't call for my phone number. Personally, I'd just as soon not see hi

Wouldn't say its a Mormon thing. People mourn differently but your husband needs resolution too. If I read you right, MIL isn't opposed to the headstone, your husband is willing to pay for it, its been picked out, so why doesn't he just go ahead and get it done.
