I was told that... and that we don't believe in carbon dating. I think I was 12 or so at the time, true believer, and I couldn't even swallow that

Their job is to minister to God's will. Apparently he only needs them to sent messages to earth every once in a while. I don't know what they do with their free time. Celestial married beings would be Gods while if you remained unmarried you would serve those higher to you DC 132: 15 Therefore, if a man marry him a wife in the world, and he marry her not by me nor by my word, and

Eve was ONE of the wives of God "When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him."

I took piano lessons for nine years. It was the only thing I was really good at and I loved playing even in church. I teach piano, but I tell the parents I only teach kids that want to learn and will actually practice. I hate it when parents force kids into piano lessons. I did hate playing for the church when they would only give you two days notice to play a new song in sacrament. Come on you

Ok, thanks. I was just checking before my paranoia set in lol I still think it's strange since I sent in change of address on the 7th (friday) and they sent it out on the 10th (monday) How did they know I moved? They really must have the gift of prophecy

I resigned from the church a few months ago. I moved into my new address this month- not three days after I moved I got my resignation letter. Now, I'm not complaining that it took a few months for me to get my letter- but I mailed the church with my old address, how did they get my new one so damn quick? I forwarded my mail, but they should still not have my new address? I was very public abou

I had just moved into a new ward and didn't know any one. I was not a full-tithe payer. Sorry, I had to pay my bills and that came first over tithing! I guess I never was tbm enough after all ;) Went to the bishop for help and say that we were not "full" tithe payers. We paid what we could, but not 10%. He would not help us with food until we were "full" tithe payers. Sugge

I don't know too much about the second anointing, but wasn't it discontinued for some years? When was the time period when they stopped performing second anointings? I always assumed that Lyman never received the second anointing, and that's why they were able to ex him. I don't know if Lyman fell into that time period that the second anointing was not performed- or it was still performed for apo

My husband grew up in Tooele. I lived there for a couple of years and begged my husband to move. We did, but we have to go back there a couple of times a year because DH family lives there.

I was told that the women who have issues with sexism in the church are just "not secure in God's love for them" So, yeah, I guess it gets kicks around.

Doctrine and Covenants 77 implies that there will be animals in the CK. I don't know if it's doctrine or not, but I remember my seminary teacher said that animals have different laws they have to abide by, and they will be judged by their laws. I have no idea what "laws" animals would have to adhere to. No leg humping?

I quit my calling as YW teacher for the same reasons. I told the bishop I could no longer teach YW because I don't believe in what they are being told. He said I could not asked to be released. I said that this was not up to him. I gave him a few weeks to find a replacement and set him a set for when I would no longer teach. It's BS when they claim you can't resign from your calling. It'

My TBM father first married a woman (not mormon) and had one daughter. Divorced and married my mom, who was mormon at the time. Had me and my sister. Divorced. Dad went on to marry a TBM woman. Mother re-married to another man and got divorced. My step mom was terrible- she didn't treat us the same as /her/ kids.. Maybe because she wasn't "sealed" to us? I don't know. I remember a

"don't you think if Mormons actually did that in the Temple that you would see thousands of Mormons walking around with scars across their throats?" I almost fell off my chair laughing at that comment. xD And then she ends with: "There's just not much we can tell you because it is so sacred." Ok, like we don't know what's going on in there.

TBM growing up, church every week, seminary every day. I first learned about polygamy when I was in high school.. Probably 16 years old. It was hard for me to accept, I thought it was "anti" lies- then my seminary teacher hinted that we would practice it in the next life. How did I learn about polygamy? We were on a school trip, and for some reason, BYU was brought up. One of the girls

Yeah, I got that now- The south park episode is more accurate than the sunday school version of the BOM. I have no idea if my dad knows about the translation in a hat, if it comes up again I'll be sure to enlighten him with knowledge.

I was a full tithe payer for years and I came on hard times when I just moved into the ward- didn't have any money for food let alone tithing so I hadn't paid a FULL tithe (still paid what I could) for a few months. I asked the bishop for help. Said he couldn't help since I wasn't a FULL tithe payer and to come back and ask again in a few months when I had paid all my tithing. Thanks, I will b

My TBM Dad was SO offended over this episode. I was a TBM when it came out, but he said it was saying things like "JS translated the BOM out of a hat, and just made him look REALLY stupid." BOM out of a hat? That can't be right, can it? Now it's my favorite south park episode. My father was so offended over it, he wrote a letter to comedy central to complain. Lol like they care..

And those sources are all well and good, but the problem lies when he says he'd only accept birth certificates, wedding, certificates, ect as proof. So, the only "acceptable proof" he would accept would be unobtainable since polygamy was secretly practiced by JS and illegal. *Church Lady invoked here* Well isn't that convenient?

Well, this is a new TBM explanation; There is no solid evidence that JS married other men's wives or children under 18 years old. Comment from FB Mormon think page: "I'd accept the kind of proof we'd use to prove anyone was married to someone else. Kids that have both parent's name on their birth certificate, a wedding certificate, both people involved in the marriage talking about b

I'm not a guy- but I never heard of guys only dating BIC girls. We were told not to go after people who come from a divorced home, because they will be messed up and most likely will get divorced themselves. As a girl who came from a f-ed up family that has been divorced three times on each side, you can see why the "good mormon" boys avoided me lol

My TBM Dad thinks it's OK to give away personal cell phone numbers and addresses to any one from the church who asks for it. Whenever my atheist sister moved (and it's CLEAR she does not want any thing to do with Mormonism) my dad gladly gives away her information when the church is trying to track her down. I asked him about it, and said that he's just being nice and she's technically still a m

Well, there are more women in my family that have left the church than men- in fact the most emotional people I know are my Dad and husband. I try to reason with my husband with "logic" but he bases a lot of his decisions on pure emotion. I've found that women are more emotional and less logical than men is false. I think women can express their emotions better than men, in part because

I was a NOM for about three years? Love 'em They helped me out when my shelf finally came crashing down- they helped me to take it slow. Ex-mormon seemed angry and scary to me. Bit by bit I eventually ended up here. NOMs are gateway ex-mormons :P

When I got my tattoo at age 23, my Dad saw it on FB, then he called me to tell me "we don't believe in getting tattoos" Naw, really? 'Cause I read "Mormonism For Dummies" cover to cover and it NEVER mentioned tattoos :O It must not have been spoken about once in all the Ensigns I read, never spoken about every Sunday of my life, or never mentioned in my four years of semin
